topic Bird Bath question..... in Community Chat

We live in Florida and are leaving soon for a month. All day long my favorite birds drink from my birdbath and take their baths. I change the water almost everyday. However, at this time of year every 3 days or so the water starts to get "funky" because of the humidity we now have. I have heard that there is something that can be added to the water to prevent it. I have a neighbor that will keep water in there but I don't think she may change the bad part as needed (elderly lady with a vision problem). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated by our feathered friends.
