What time does your mail get delivered?

We are rural customers and our mail for many,many years was delivered by early afternoon (before dark) which was good because we have a mailbox out on our small country road. No problems for years. Last night we had our mail delivered at 8:30 PM! This has been going on for about a year now, getting later and later and I think this is just crazy! I am just curious as to what time other rural customers get their mail. It is way too far to go into town everyday to get my Q packages.....and bills.

Hi, silky, My mail comes around 5:30PM. I wish it were earlier, but I've adjusted over the years. In my neighborhood, when the mail is a great deal later than that, a substitute letter carrier is on the route.

I once looked out at night and saw the postman, not our usual person, examining mail under a streetlight to figure out which customer I was. He was really upset at how long it was taking him--I felt bad for him.

I'm not a rural customer but our mail is delivered at different times. Sometimes it's at our house by 10:00 in the morning and other times it's 1:00 and other times 4:00. Sometimes we get mail twice a day, super early and later. I have no idea why. We don't seem to have a regular mail carrier anymore either. It's always someone different.

My mail in Florida arrives some time after 4 pm and before 7:30. I don't have a long walk to the mailbox area, but most days I do carry my flashlight just to be able to insert my key!

When I'm on Long Island in the summer, I get my mail noonish.

You'd think I prefer LI, but I don't. That's because rarely a week goes by that there's not an error with that delivery whereas my FL mail is virtually 100 percent accurate.

Unless our carrier is not available our mail is delivered between 11AM and 11:45AM like clockwork.........

Generally between 1 and 4. I saw a mail truck delivering packages at 8:30 yesterday morning. I was shocked.

At my office it is usually here before I go to lunch but sometimes I find it on the floor through mail slot of the of locked door when I get back around 1:00.

At home it is usually between 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

Apparently you live WAY out of town. So that makes it more costly and problematic for you to get mail I guess. We live in town and it comes about 2:45 daily.

At least you don't have to go to town everyday!

In my area, it's whenever it gets there! No set time, just glad it arrives, my post people are great! Same for the newspaper!

My development is next door to the local Postal Service distribution center. This has meant the last stop on the route delivery - usually 5 or later. I do not make a trek up to the box to get my mail on the day it is delivered; I pick it up the next morning on my way out. However, this holiday season, we are the first stop, which means the mail is delivered by 9 a.m. Let's just say I would prefer they keep the holiday schedule all year long.

I am like OP. Rural with a mailbox down a 700 ft lane. Our mail for years has always been delivered around 1pm. But say the last two months, the delivery time has started to get wonky. Now it can be anywhere from 11:30AM to 2:30. One day, (must have been new person or a vehicle breakdown) it didn't come until 7:30pm. The only reason I knew it was delivered was because I was tracking something.

Last year our long time carrier retired, and the new carrier does something that puzzles me. When there were packages delivered that were too big to fit the mailbox our previous carrier would drive them up to the house with the paper mail. I'm usually home and would come out to meet her. This new carrier brings up the package and then tells me she put the other mail in the box. May-be that is the policy. I was going to call the Postmaster to ask, but hesitated because carrier seems like a nice person and I don't want to raise any red flags.

In December, sometimes 9:00 at night. We have gotten it as late as 10 and 11 PM (last year).

During the year, between 4 and 5.

My regular guy, Kenny, knows my condos inside and out, so when he's delivering it comes by early afternoon. When it's a sub........I'd be lucky if it gets there by 5.00. Yesterday (because of the bloated amount of packages), it didn't come until after 6:00. Lately, I've seen a mail truck around the neighborhood on Sundays while I'm out jogging!

We are rural, and our mail delivery has gotten later over the years.

When we first moved here, and the mailman was a long time veteran rural route driver, he was like clock work. He'd arrive between nine and ten in the morning.

Over the 20+ years we've been here, there has been a lot of homes added in our area, so his route got more time consuming, but he was still here between ten and eleven am.

When he retired, the new and all the substitutes we have can't seem to get around as quickly. Now we never expect the mail before 11 am, and sometimes it doesn't get here till between one and two in the afternoon. The substitutes are especially slow.

I would not be happy with rural delivery after dark. That just doesn't seem safe for them, or for me. I do appreciate that we still get delivery, and it is fairly good service (once in awhile we get a neighbor's mail, but not often). I'd hate to have to get a post office box, because the nearest post office is now a ten minute drive away (about 10 miles or more from our house). Grateful that it still comes right to the end of the driveway.

I'm not rural. The mail comes around noon, give or take a half hour.
