Yes, although I have to say that I actually enjoy the shorter days for a while...I find them cozy and have battery-operated candles with timers throughout our home...Of course, we have lights also...LOL...Dusk has always been my most favorite time of day, as I find this time of day very soothing and calming...I do wish that the time would just be left alone either way...It also makes more sense to me to have longer days during Winter and shorter days during Summer...It's Interesting how the light and darkness can affect all of us in different ways.

In the northern hemisphere, winter has less daylight hours. Has nothing to do with changing the clock.

Great, then I wish it would start getting cold. I'm sort of tired of the endless warm air, rain and humidity we're getting in the mid-Atlantic. It's not seasonal and not at all festive. Yes, the added light will be nice too.

Yippee! I was at Target yesterday and I found it interesting that all the college kids I talked to were upset that we haven't had any snow yet this year. Of course, those my age were with me - we can wait until February because we know it's coming!

Yes, @CrazyDaisy...I'm definitely aware that, by changing the clock, Mankind is not so masterful as to be able to control the natural orbital movement of the Earth and the Sun and Moon patterns, etc....I was simply referring to the noticeable change when Mankind is in control of turning their clocks backwards or forwards which allows more or less daylight hours.

At New Grange, Ireland was built around 2,500 B.C. where they marked the First Day of Winter the Winter Solstice.

It is about the size of a football field.

It is worth looking at the pictures located on a web site, Knowth.

Years ago I went there, was blown away with how it looked inside. They celebrated the Birth of The Light there.

The Winter Solstice is about The Birth of The Light. The Light was born inside the womb of the dome they built. It tells a story of what the people was thinking on that day.

Thousands of years later another story is told...notice? The date was changed.

our culture actually celebrates the longest night of the year, but i really do prefer the shorter days/longer nights......and the standard time (which is a different subject).

i am ready for some cold weather!

@onewhiteSparrow The Birth of the Light. My spiritual belief on the birth of the light is the Christ consciousness which all have but don't realize. It is the creativity, imagination, the ingenuity, the beauty, all born in the freedom of choice and applied for the good. C/Krisnos - the 'enlightened' one is...........guess who, the one given credit by many believers but he's not the only one who has ever existed. He's one of millions through the ages. Both male and female.

@Puzzle Piece, I was pointing out that over 2,500 B.C. a large group of people had ideas of The Birth of Light long before other ideas came to be.

The Light came to Earth and entered Earths womb that they built to hold the Light. That is telling the story of joining together the Light and Mother Earth. Earth needs the Light to live, and the Light keeps all of us alive. Light is energy and Light gives us life on Earth. It is a natural action of our solar system and space.

Changing the clock does not allow for more or less daylight hours.

@CrazyDaisy...You are being very entertaining!...You know exactly what I am referring to!...If we did not turn our clocks back one hour, it would be getting "naturally" dark at around 5:30 rather than 4:30 so, therefore, we would be experiencing "daylight" for an extra hour, due to "Mankind" manipulating their "clock time", which we all live by.

None of this, of course, has anything to do with "Winter Solstice" which refers to the "natural course of orbital movement" which controls our daylight and nighttime hours.

Now, is there anything here that you would also like to highlight and contradict or can we finally be in agreement?...Either way, I would like to think that most posters understood what I was saying in my original post...Perhaps my wording didn't meet up to everyone's expectations but, hey, that's life...I'm okay with it!
