USES FOR POLAR PACKS?

Each month we receive a shipment that includes two polar packs to keep the contents cold.

(FYI, this polar pack is about 8 x 5 x 3 inches and weighs about 1.8 pounds each. They can be chilled or frozen and hold the cold very well for many hours)

While I like to recycle and not waste whenever possible, I'm stumped for what to do with these. I have 3 in the freezer and would take two out and place in the fridge section in the event of a power outage. I've given away one to a neighbor to use as a cold pack ..... and now have a small pile of these building up .... and no idea what to do with them!

Anyone have some ideas? I hate for them to just end up in a land fill and would love some input .... TIA!!

If you ever go on a picnic, or whatever, and you have food packed inside a cooler, you can use them to keep the food cool.

Or, for a minor burn, wrap one in a towel and place on the burn, to cool it down

Or, if you have a hot flash in the middle of the night, use one to keep yourself cool!

You might be able to donate them to a pre-school, daycare, school, or after school sports program for the injuries and boo boos.

I had the same experience of a build up of the ice packs and the styro containers as well. I kept them in the spare refrigerator and gave to friends when possible. The styro containers went to the recycling center. They come in handy for transporting food.

I think they would come in handy durning the summer, put in a cooler and take to grocery store.

you could always try selling them on ebay if you were so inclined.

@Another new name Sue, you are fortunate. My recycler won't take styrofoam. I don't know why they consider it non-recyclable.

I keep mine in the freezer and use them in the summer to transport perishable food to & from the beach or from the grocery store to my home .... I use them a lot & wish I had more.
