RUN, HIDE, FIGHT!

This is what law enforcement is training for businesses. My DH's company had this training right after the Paris attacks. His company's main headquarters is based in Paris. Has anybody else had this training at your place of work?????

No, but I think this should be something that should be taught to everyone out there in view of what is happening in the world today. It just makes sense and is better than lying down and waiting to die.

Yes. I work for our Township and we had this same training a few months ago. Very informative and hopefully no one will have to use it.

@Preds, well until they do, remember those three words. A moving target is much harder to hit. Actually, they have some really good info out there for everybody. Knowing where the exits are when you are out eating, etc, etc It's the world we live in now.

I agree @loveschocolate! We were also taught this in weapons training. Everyone should learn this for their own and others safety. Actually using a gun should be a last resort for anyone. Getting to safety should be your first thought.

My dad was a police officer for many years, after being an MP during WW2. Whenever we went out in public, he would always sit where he could see the whole room. His first instinct was always to protect. I used to think it was a bit overzealous, but not anymore. A good lesson for all.

I don't like living like this and I really don't like that my children and grandchildren have this kind of future....and I don't want it for anyone else either!I think our melting pot has a few extra ingredients that won't melt.

Yeah, I saw Chief Kathy Lanier's interview (Wash DC) on TV and its pretty sad, but true. I'm retired so don't work. I've ALWAYS been very observant of everything around me and I went to the movies in the middle of the day yesterday. Bc theatres have been a repeated source of shootings, I sat near the exit and watched everyone coming in - like I think I'd be able to pick out a disgruntled or mentally ill shooter! It's funny though and I hate to say this - I looked around a relatively empty theatre and bc it was in the middle of the day it was mostly much older ppl than me in there and I found myself thinking - if overpowering someone was my only option - that day I might be lucky. I thought to myself - how sad it's come to that but we don't live in a bubble and I'm not barricading myself inside my house and will continue living my life.

@MaggieMack Thank God for men like your father. It is comforting to think someone like him could be present in a public place--watchful, ready and capable. We need more like him.

Actually if you look at the mass shooting list, most mass shootings are done by gangs. Do you have proof the race of gang members is white?

The wife of the married couple that killed 14 people was foreign born . Neither of the were white.

I should have specified office and school shootings. The OP is talking about active shooter training in an office and public schools also have drills for active shooters. Gang violence is terrible, but the gangs aren't the ones shooting up offices, schools, theaters, churches, or clinics.

Uh, have you been paying attention to the news for the past oh, let's say a little more than eight years now? There are as many natural born American citizens, seemingly mostly in their 40s and up, that don't like many of us or what we stand for. Are they included in your "those that don't melt" ?
