If you could choose one baked iten to gift from any company or bakery, what would you choose?

We live in a small town with only a grocery store and Walmart. We have friends that we gift sweets to for the holidays. I would like to send something different this year. I appreciate any suggestions.

That would be difficult to do. I tend to choose a gift that is specific to what a gift recipient would like, so it's never just one thing for everybody, in my experience. I hope you find the right thing. But I find that shopping for individuals works out better for me.

Over the past couple of years I've received gifts from the Smith Island Bakery in Maryland. These products are truly amazing and there is a wide variety of cakes and such.

How about Junior's Cheesecake from QVC. They have quite a selection.

Junior's is pretty good! I've had many of their products over the years. But I have to say that their lemon coconut cheesecake is my favorite, head and shoulders, above all of them. But that's because I love lemon and coconut. If not, of course, YMMV.

Oh, but the other thing is that QVC doesn't carry that one anymore so it has to be ordered directly from Junior's.

Hand dipped chocolate covered cherries or strawberries from Shari's Berries.

Google them (not sure if posting links to another vendor is allowed here.)

Make sure you use a coupon when checking out.

I've sent these many times to family members as gifts and everyone raved about them.

i highly recommend the croissants from qvc......you can get plain, chocolate, or filled......if you get the plain they can be used at breakfast with butter, jellies, honey OR they can be used at lunch to make sandwiches OR they can be used at dinner as a bread side. they are very delicious and easy to make. the croissants arrive frozen and they can bake just a couple at a time if they want.

Jill always raves about those two Coffee Cakes you can buy from the Q...Grandma's?

Mrs. Prindables apples are great, the coconut cake is good. Don't know what to say. It depends on what you think they would like, and your budget.

I don't know if NothingBundtCakes is in your area, but they are very delicious. They have mini bundt cakes and 8 inch or 10 inch cakes.

Collin Street Bakery makes THE best fruitcakes. The only problem is that their prices have gotten so high that it's hard to justify.

I've been buying from them since 1989 and always the same quality. Of course I would expect prices to go up over the years but it's truly been excessive. If you can spend the money, though, go for it!

What I did when the price started getting out of line was to get a couple of them on sale (they run sales from time to time) and I cut them into single-serving pieces, froze them and then vacuum sealed them individually. That way it stays pristine in the freezer and i can enjoy a piece now and then. Those two large fruitcakes were enough that I'll have fruitcake for years!

Although it is not a bakery item See's candy has a beautiful selection of gifts to order on-line. If it has to be a bakery item I would look Wolfermans english muffins. They also have a nice holiday assortment.

From QVC: Junior's chocolate-cappuccino (sp?) cheesecake. This has worked so well during the few years when Christmas was lean, but I was able to send a cheesecake to them, which was enjoyed by all, even though we could not afford the cross country airfare to be with them.

(Don't even know if the make this variety any longer.)

If a person loves cheesecake, Juniors is wonderful. I always order directly from Juniors though. I love the lemon coconut cheesecake. It has a layer of cheesecake, a lemon curd layor then a layer of regular cake and frosted with a cheesecake type frosting.

My best ever food gift though is Smith Island Cake, nothing better to me.
