Movie "Joy" about Joy Mangano

Is anyone planning on seeing the movie "Joy" based on Joy Mangano? They got an impressive cast including Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Roberd DeNiro to name a few.

They're doing a story on her on 20/20 on ABC Friday. Here's a good article that previews the story and talks about her 42,000 sq foot mansion.

I saw the previews in the theater last night. Jennifer Lawrence might be good in it, but from what I saw, she was not nearly as annoying as the real Joy is.; I just can't understand why her story was movie-worthy. I did see one of the scenes with QVC with the spin to win prize wheel they used to have. Not sure who Bradley Cooper is supposed to be playing. I might go see it, but I am going to wait for the reviews.

I won't embarass myself by naming the last movie I saw in a theatre but when this comes to Amazon I will definitely watch it if for no other reason than to see the behind the camera scenes at QVC and wonder who the host is modeled after . . .

Not even if they paid me. Ms. Joy reminds me of a bad use car salesman" emphasis's on the word bad. (Because used car sales people sometimes get a bad rap). Never brought any of her products, it just her presentation are hard to take. But she did not need me to make her millions.

Bradley Cooper doesn't play a host. He plays the head of QVC.

As others have said, this just seems more like a Lifetime movie than a box office movie. I'll be shocked if it does well. Seeing the clips of it and hearing the clips on the radio, it doesn't even sound enticing to me. Maybe that's because I know Joy from tv shopping I don't know.

I can't imagine many people who don't know Joy Mangano would be that interested in seeing this. I haven't heard anyone say they want to see it outside of people who shop from tv.

Interestingly enough, I had thought just the opposite. I've seen so many comments here from people who don't like her and would never want to see a movie about her life (or can't understand why anyone would make a movie about it), yet I think people who don't really know who she is might be interested because of the director, cast, and "rags to riches" story of her "crazy life." Remember that David O. Russell also made a movie about the Abscam sting operation (not exactly something that might draw tons of people to the theaters) which was nominated for many awards. From what I've read, this is probably not in that category, but Jennifer Lawrence is very good in it. Boxoffice numbers are not always indicative of the quality of a movie or the performances in it.

Honestly, I only have a passing knowledge of who Joy is and what she's like, because I don't think I've ever watched her on either channel. Would I watch this at a theater? Probably not, mostly because I don't go to many movies in theaters. Would I be interested in seeing it at some point? Absolutely.

I wouldn't go see it but might watch when it eventually gets to TV. My thought is, did Joy have any say in choosing Jen Lawrence to play her? While she will probably handle the role well as actress, they look less alike than any two women I can think of! Might take a while to forget what she looks like and get into who she is portraying.

I don't mean to be mean, but I really thought this header was a joke. Shows how out of the loop I am. Shows what a "peasant mentality" I have, shocked that a 42,000 sq. foot home was built by an empire of hanging up clothing. And I thought rags to riches stories were about high tech, etc. But what does anyone want or do with a home that large? She must have a lot of company.
