What do you eat if you hate turkey on Thanksgiving

i was at the gym this morning and a girl was there and her daughter doesn't like turkey so they have steak! they actually have two thanksgivings.

do you all like your turkey or chicken on thanksgiving?

I think turkey is kind of tasteless and it often gets over cooked which just makes it worse. One good turkey sandwich is all I want. I have a friend who is serving prime rib because her family prefers it.

I don't like turkey or pumpkin pie. I eat the sides and make a dessert that I enjoy. No big deal. It's just one meal a year.

I don't hate turkey, but it's not really my favorite. (I can't wait for Christmas dinner, at which we always have ham!)

At Thanksgiving, I eat everything else...mashed potatoes, stuffing, baked yams with marshmallow, whatever veg (usually peas and carrots).

And, of course, dessert! Pumpkin pie being my favorite.

I love turkey but I have relatives who don't, so they eat ham or roast beef. I cook Turkey on Christmas and Thanksgiving but I also cook a ham on Thanksgiving and roast beef on Christmas.

Judging from the long line at Honeybaked Ham for the last three days I would say alot of people eat ham!

It's really almost better without the turkey, imo! To me, it's the sides that make the meal!

One year we attended a Thanksgiving buffet, and salmon was one of the dishes, so I had that.

I do enjoy ham on Christmas, though. But, like you, I am not a big meat eater.

I just want to offer to take all the servings of turkey that "turkey haters" won't be eating this year. I love turkey! Eat it year round!

You know what my answer is to anyone who "doesn't like" something served at a holiday meal or someone else's house? "SHUT UP and eat the sides and other dishes, and take a few bites of what you don't like. It's one meal and you won't die. Other people like it. Stop whining."

I can't eat turkey - I sometimes see them in our yard. Sometimes their gobbling wakes us up on Sunday morning, but I still like them !

My mother-in-law always makes lasagna besides the turkey, so I have that and some of the side dishes.

@Sooner I totally agree with you. That's what I've always done. I just don't care much for turkey. When I was a kid I'd eat a hot dog before I went to relative's houses. Anyone who ever at dinner with me commented because I've always had meat, bla bla but mostly as many as 5 vegetables. I love vegetables. My daughters are the few adults now that love spinach, broccoli, etc.

It's just plain rude to make a big deal out of what someone isn't going to eat. They'd never eat at my table again. Besides who would really notice if you took some and moved it around, whatever.

There are always people who like drama.

My dh can take turkey or leave it. Every year I insist that it's tradition and I have to cook a turkey dinner even if it's just the two of us. This year, he got his wish. We are having pizza and green salad. Costco's pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. It sounds better and better when I realize that there is no prep and no cleanup. Woo Hoo.
