For me? Pretty much like any other day. My wife is going out to a Buffet Restaurant with her mother and brother. I ain't for spending money going out to feed my face. I also ain't one for standing in line to eat, had all of that I wanted in US Army Mess Halls.

My wife likes eating out and what she spends to do so is just fine with. I am frugal "a cheapskate" only when it pertains to myself, I ain't into wasting money on myself.

Hey All, enjoy your Thanksgiving Day!

hckynut(john)

What is on your Thanksgiving menu?

Sorry if there is already a thread on this but I didn't see one so I decided to start one.

What is everyone making for Thanksgiving? I am having some family and friends come in from out of town starting on Tuesday but I am doing very little cooking this year. Everyone who is coming over or staying at my house is contributing. I just don't have the energy this year. I am doing the turkey (which is so easy) and I will start brining it on Tuesday night. I generally use Alton Browns brine with a few small adjustments. Other than that I am making the stuffing, roasted brussel sprouts (my favorite) mashed potatoes and besides pumpkin pie just a few other desserts.

We are just having it at my house, not going anywhere. I do like to eat out on other holidays but Thanksgiving, I don't know, I just like to be home. Maybe I will feel differently in a few years. Today I started making a few different compound butters. One with sage and thyme and one with honey, sage and parsley. I think that goes well with rolls if they choose not to use regular butter. I set out the Irish butter for those that chose not to go with the flavored butters. I made them into logs and put them into the freezer. I will pull them out on Wednesday. They are pretty easy to make and an easy way to add flavor.

So where is everyone going, who are you spending it with and what are you making? Inquiring minds want to know!!! I sincerely hope that each and everyone of you has a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving!

I love a crunchy topping over marshmallow. Usually sweet potatoes are sweet enough (for me anyway) without the marshmallow. My daughter makes something similar with crushed pecans mixed with butter and something else, but I forget now. They are one of my favorite sides! Have a great time at your sisters house!

Everybody's menus sound delicious, thank you for sharing. Since it's just me and i've changed my mind about 1,000 times since I started planning suffice to say I really have no idea what's going to land on the plate next week.

@Irshgrl31201 those compound butters sound absolutely delicious. I think I will try my hand at one of those as I am pretty sure both turkey and rolls are going to end up on the menu . . . I hope.

@NoelSeven I'm glad your dinner is planned and you can get some rest. I hope you are feeling better each day.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody and ENJOY!

Hey, @Irshgrl31201!! I'm hosting this year. We are doing ham & turkey, a sweet potato dish, a corn dish that is TDF, rolls, green bean casserole (homemade - not using anything canned, it's great!!), a fall inspired salad, baked or mashed potatoes (haven't decided yet!) and pies. And my mom is making another dessert of some variety. I LOVE Brussels sprouts, but several coming over don't, so I'll make them for myself another time. Lol! Wednesday night we are doing Itlaian food. We aren't Italian, but like to do something different every year, and something that's different than our traditional meal the next day. Hope you have an awesome holiday, and enjoy your time with family and friends!

If it was just my family we probably wouldn't have so many different things but I think the current count is 22 and when that many people come, everyone wants to bring something they grew up eating. I think almost everyone is making something and that is fun because you get to try so many different peoples Thanksgiving taste. If it was just me and immediately family, I would have a much smaller menu though, I just don't have the energy for it anymore! lol!
