Too Much Coverage!

I think the media is going overboard with its coverage of the Paris terrorist attacks. We are making "stars" of the shooters, leaders, cousins, and those blowing themselves up! If the terrorists want to become martyrs, we've got their backs--with our 24-hour obsession of reporting each and every move they make.

Besides that, we are aiding them in instilling fear (terror) in those viewing the reports of predicted attacks on New York, etc. I think we should bring back all of our journalists from Paris and give one or maybe two short updates a day with NO names or pictures of the offenders.

Simple solution, don't watch! There are plenty of other channels out there that aren't covering Paris.

Besides, I predict by this time next week, we'll be back to our regularly scheduled programing, of Trump, Carson, et. al.

In general: Too much news is better than no news/too little news..........I like to know what's going on. I think that being careful benefits us, in the long run. As an example: Too many teens/folks around here always texting, looking down (driving, walking, etc.). I'm always reminding the ones I know to please be aware of their surroundings, if only not to be run over while walking, or to prevent auto accidents.

@fortuneWe agree - I don't think the solution is simply to change the channel and watch something else. In no way does that take the desired media attewntion away from he terrorists and in not real way does not watching assist in tamping down the threats.

If the media were adding information to their reports, shopwing us useful ways to understand what what really happened and how to avoid future attacks, I'd say they should continue to report even if I were sick of hearing them, but they're not doing that often enough to justify the over and over reports.

Yet, I know it's the same process that the shopping channels use - as long as viewers show up, they'll repeat -over and over because it works in a weird sort of way.

I think the world needs to wake up. I think the shock value of this is sort of like Pearl Harbor. Makes me sick to think about it, but I need to think about it don't I?

I live in the NY metro area and work in NYC commuting in by train. I am not obsessed. I think the obsession is found outside my area. But as someone else pointed out turn off the channel.

The cable news networks grab onto a story like this and don't let go, as it gives them plenty of material to keep their network going 24/7.

I also think that the coverage is a bit too much at times, but when that happens, I just restrict my watching to my local news for awhile.

I only watch local tv news coverage, they didn't send correspondents over there, never do. There's no need to.

I think the terrorists LOVE the attention. And we are giving away secrets, I'm sure. Things that make them think at their next roundtable, "How can we improve upon that?"

There's a article in the Wash Post about how Belguim messed up. Couldn't open the link, but hope someone from Homeland Security reads it.

For my family there is never too much coverage of what is happening over the ocean. My heart aches for those people their lives are forever changed like ours from Sept. 11. I watch this event constantly to see if they have caught any more of these terrorists. I think the more they show how they are going after them it might change their minds a little that they are not the smartest people that they think they are. Even thought they think they hero's for when they blow them selves up. We are watching the news channels each one has something different to learn about this horrible act.

I do believe that being aware of our surroundings prompts us to tune up our intuition. The more we use our observance of our surroundings, the more tuned-in our intuition is. Just a thought. (Worked for me several times in my lifetime.)

Yes, we sure are! Even if they had no intention of posing as refugees, they certainly do now. They're thinking, "Gee, that's a great idea! Tell the U.S. that we're fleeing our war torn country and just want to come to the U.S. for a better life, and they'll fall for it, hook, line, and sinker. Then we can all meet in D.C. and NYC and show them who's boss!."

Nothing new. Life history of perps. Little to nothing about victims. And they wonder why they get calls that are fake and copy cat?
