I understand having the initial reaction of fear but not remaining fearful as more information comes out.

Still waiting for the cries to stop immigration from France or Belgium, which is where the terrorists were born. What Syrian refugees have to do with what French citizens did to their own city is beyond me.

But then again, during Ebola, there were many who wanted the borders closed, but thought it a-ok to allow Texans to move freelya bout the country- when Texas was the state with the outbreak. Go figure.

My BFF & I were talking about this at dinner tonight!

We also compared it to Hurricane Katrina.

At that time, all the surrounding states were accepting bus loads of displaced New Orleans residents.

Here in Dallas, everyone had their knickers in a twist & were clutching their pearls saying the streets were going to be riddled with crime, r*pe & shootings if we allowed them in....basically the whole city would be hell in a hand basket. 10 yrs later, hardly a blip on the radar.

I think it can go both ways. I am not a person who lives in fear but I am concerned for the future of this country and my grandchildren. On the other hand, I think it dangerous to become too complacent. Personally, it looks like a rough road ahead to me. I think the word "rough" is putting it mildly. I choose to look at what's good and vote for the person I think can do the best for my country. For me, the Commander In Chief should be building our country up....not tearing her down. Slamming her to other countries will only make our interior appear divided and weak so I want someone who loves America and stands up for her.

I think all of us here feel heartache for these refugees. It is not fair to say others don't care as much.... just because they want to be told exactly who these refugees are and have a program that is set up to watch suspicious characters.

No one comes on and spells out any kind of a program? Many would soften their stance if that would happen. The more terrorists that come in..... the more of our own people they recruit. They know this is the best way if they can get in and many are already in and doing just that.

I find that people who call other people uncaring and overly cautious are usually the first to scream and blame the government when something bad does happens to them or someone they know.

We all need to grow up and work together toward a better future for us and for the refugees. My thoughts are to create safe havens for the refugees in their own countries where the world bans together to keep evil at bay. I know that sounds simplistic. I don't claim to have the "know how" to do all this. I do believe that there are people much smarter than I..... that do have the "know how".

We used to sing God Bless America. Now people don't like that first word in anything and want to take it out of everything they can, even though we were established on it. That establishment is ceasing to exist the way it was meant to. I wonder what the world will be like when left to man's own resources. So far, it isn't going very well.

I don't see any hysteria. just articles to read about updates, people expressing concern....but still going out about their business.

As for bringing in refugees, I guess no one has ever heard the phrase "with the good, you also get the bad". Constantly harping on people who have real concerns about letting in more people with bad agendas does not seem like something anyone would want. Once you do something, you can't undo it.

As for the post about Katrina, are you kidding me? Your reference to hardly a blip today? so that means what? That all these years later people should still be wringing their hands over that catastrophe? Poster made light of that terrible time by minimizing it. I guess she's forgotten that the stadium where they housed people did in fact become a cesspool and yes crimes were committed there. And many people lost homes, pets, family members and dilapidated houses and neighborhoods are still there today. Why would anyone minimize that terrible time?

And our......n/m, if I said what I wanted, the thread would be deleted immediately.

The overwhelming majority of Americans come from immigrant blood. Most come here seeking a better life for themselves, their families and future generations. The only thing they have is hope. Letting fear be our guiding emotion to decision making is unwise, even foolish. If we do this we have learned nothing from our past. To continue down this path means the thousand Jews who sought refuge in our country during WWII, were turned away from our borders and subsequently murdered in the death camps, died in vain. It's their blood we have on our hands.

We never know what will happen. Perhaps in a 100 years we will need other countries to accept us as refugees.

We need to do better.

There is no comparison imo. Our national security is being weakened even further.
