I was wondering why proof of insurance is not requested when a person rents a car. The reason I am asking this question is this; last month I was hit by an uninsured driver who rented a car and never took any insurance out on the vehicle. As it states in the police report, he ran a red light and is 100%at fault. So he walks away, after totaling my car and the rental?
