CNN's Coverage in Paris

I am a CNN viewer (as well as MSNBC).

I can't believe that CNN has sent almost their entire on air crew over to Paris. Is there anyone left at CNN headquarters in Atlanta?

Do they really need all those talking heads in Paris? I can see 3, 4 at the most, but it seems like they have sent all their primetime anchors and weekend ones to report on the attacks.

To me, it doesn't matter who is reporting from there. I just want to hear the news and keep up with what is going on in Paris. I'm sure there are CNN correspondents in Paris that can provide the coverage.

CNN sure has no problem spending the money to send them all over there. I wonder how well they pay their non on air employees? I was in radio for years and all the on air talent and exec's got huge salaries and the rest of us (assistants, etc.) got low, low salaries.

It can't be cheap sending all those employees to France.

CNN Is pretty much the only news channel I watch and I've appreciated their coverage over in Paris. I don't worry about how they spend their money-it matters not to me. I just want good reporting and I think they are doing a great job of it.

I don't know one CNN reporter from the other since I haven't watched it since Greta Van Sustern finished covering the OJ trial. I did watch a bit today, though, since they were the only one covering the air flights. I have no opinion as to how CNN should utilize their on-air talent nor what it costs to send them around the world. That's for their bean counters to worry about.

I have a friend that lives in Paris and the talk over there is they appreciate the coverage by the US but they also feel they don't talk to the locals enough to know the real story. I guess what she was saying is the news media will try to make the stories big for ratings and don't always do due diligence.

Just like in the US, she says they'll leave in a few days and no one will be reporting about the aftermath.

I think CNN is owned by whoever owns HBO. I really miss their 24 hour news coverage on a daily basis. Heard they changed the format because of low ratings.

I know I can't stand Anthony Bourdain every weekend. Some of his shows are gross.

I like live shows too. I miss Larry King and Piers Morgan, they had good interviews and covered the important stories, too.

No, CNN will be talking about Paris for weeks to come. They tend to overdo it a bit sometimes, lol. I still think they are one of the best news agency out there.

I do not miss Piers Morgan one bit. Glad he is gone. Adios.

I don't like the Anthony Bourdain's show either. I don't need to watch a man eating and drinking all the time. Same with that Booze traveller. I don't need to see a man get drunk onair every show. Whose bright idea was that anyway? The man is clearly an alcoholic so why are we giving him a show to indulge his addiction?

I do like some of their documentary series they do.

I agree on many levels @HappyDaze, but they can really over-report at times. E.g. "look at me, almost getting killed in Hurricaine ____"! Heh heh. They seem to be getting better about this, however. This (Paris) is certainly an 'event' that has world-wide implications where in-depth coverage is needed. They knew when to claw back as well.

CNN over-does it. Such tragedies are their Super Bowl, but we don't need wall-to-wall coverage. I'm happy with twice daily updates - once at morning and once at night. If I need an interim update, there's the web.

I beleive it's their call on how they spend their funds to cover their side of the events.

Remember, they are in the sensationalization business and this event in France plays right into their agenda.

They are covering the air strikes and raids so that makes the viewers feel somewhat relieved that something is being done. Bombs away.

Maybe it might help their "ratings". Trying some new faces surely can't hurt them. and could even help. NBC worry about $$$$$? Only if is their's.

I did watch the debate on CNBC, do you think that improved their number of veiwers? And here I thought that debate was suppose to be about the economy, foolish me. Reminded me of "stand up comedy", except the comics(moderators) were sitting.

Hope you will register your displeasure with NBC Headquarters.

Infection much better, but left hand still swollen and can't use it for much. Got appointment with Infectious Disease doctor Tuesday. Might do an MRI to see if infection is in my bone.

Hmmm, don't see my earlier post. Can't imagine that it's the one that got poofed siting argumentative as the reason. Truly, I wasn't but I guess Moderator Wayne's opinion is what rules here.

Fine with me. I'll restate my post, hopefully, in a better way.

My point was that the media has over saturated France by sending so many reporters from each station and I think it's causing more problems for the already stressed French people by crowding. How much media does it take to report the same thing.
