Check out the link to this Bloomingdales print advertisement in their holiday catalog. It speaks for itself. This is supposed to be a classy store?? It can't hold a candle to Nordstrom.

Wow. That's amazing that they felt like that ad was appropriate. Their apology didn't sound very sincere to me.

I only saw the ad that was posted on the link so if there was more to it forgive me. From what I saw, no mention of sx, date, or rape so reading date rape into it says more about those who interpreted the ad to mean date rape than those responsible for the ad.

Spike your best friend's eggnog doesn't come close to meaning drug your date's drink so you can rape her.

Not impressed with this ad. I'm also distracted by the pronoun-antecedent agreement issue.

Yes, I totally agree, and I find it truly disgusting. I was "Mickey Finned" by my first Boyfriend, of 2 years, and I kicked him to the curb. I didn't even think about "dating" for well over 6 months after that horrible experience. :'(

Boomingdales should be ashamed of themselves ! Their customers should BOYCOTT the stores.

Seriously. Conclusions jumped to in order to become indigant about that ad should qualify folks for the olympic high jump team... Much ado about not very much... again.

The ad is a bit creepy, but I don't think it's saying "date rape."

I'm not sure why everyone is reading "Bill Cosby" into this. He was not a "friend" of these women he raped, and he drugged them.

'I don't know', but seems as though some advertising and other people just aren't thinking now-a-days......especially when they should be a bit careful in today's world of possibly offending folks, etc., etc. Just having a nice holiday setting with cups of eggnog would send out a cheerful message, more or less. Wouldn't be as controversial. JMO

Spiking someone's drink is Assault and Battery...It IS a Criminal Offense! What were these advertising idiots thinking besides the Almighty Dollar ???

I was a minor (19 y/o) at the time...I never told my Parents what happened because my Dad would have either sicced the authorities on him, for prosecution, (or taken the matter into his own hands and he would have been in jail for murder). Either way I could not, and would not have to deal with it. Whose trial would it be ? In essence, mine. I was the victim but my ex-BF thought he owned me and it was his "right". WRONG !!!
