Starbucks' Cup Controversy

This "big" news story about the cups at Starbucks not being "Christmas enough" this year is ridiculous.

What do the ultra religious want, Jesus Christ on the cups?

There is a lot more things to complain about than the artwork on a cup. Not all Starbucks' customers celebrate Christmas. What would they say if the owner this year had only Hanukah cups?

I think when people can truly share the love that Christmas is supposed to be all about and be there for their fellow neighbors who are down and out or reach out and help someone or just be loving to each other, that is more important than the design on a dam@ cup!

I can't believe this controversy. These are just cups, people! I'm a Christian, but never thought these cups represented Christ, nor should they. I always liked these cups because when I saw the red color I knew the holiday season was coming up and it's my favorite time of the year, but I never paid much attention to the pictures on them. The fact that they're red and green says "Christmas" to me. Such a non issue!

What this tells me is there's a group of people (fairly small, I believe) that look for anything they can use to show there's a "war on Christmas". Sad.

I get so sick of everybody being offended by every little thing. Either these people have no lives, or they get some sort of perverse enjoyment out of complaining and playing the perpetual victim.

ETA: When I first saw the cup, before I read the article, I thought "gee, what a nice festive holiday cup!"

Here is my take: First, I don't like Starbucks...too strong and too expensive, so this is a non-issue for me. I feel folks are upset not about a silly cup per se, but because what this represents to many, which is an anti-Christian message and an attempt to mollify those who would be "offended". That is jmo and I won't argue the matter, as I agree there are much more important things going on to be concerned about...however for some, this is just one more tiny nail in the coffin of what our country was.

I usually take my own mug to use & don't go there all that much. But, from vague recollections of what they've done in past years, they never had a Christian theme design, did they? Nothing like crosses, images of Jesus or Mary, anything like that? If that's the case, then their past designs have just been "winter holiday" themes & the plain red cup fits with that school of thought. JMHO

wow it must be nice to have nothing else going on in your life than to a.) pay that much attention to a stupid coffee cup and then b.) complain about it. I don't know, I have enough other things to stress over that are much more significant and possibly life threatening than to have time to worry about a coffee cup. I don't think God cares what the cup looks like that we drink our coffee out of, pretty sure he has bigger fish to fry.

I honestly don't remember, VCamp. I think they were just snow themes and the like, nothing religious.

... just looked, apparently Starbucks 2014 had a snowflake theme. Sorry folks, but there were no snowflakes at the actual birth.

Doing an image check, I also see a reindeer cup, a bird on a cup and what looks like a freeform gold swirl. Nothing religious.
