As winter approaches, we will be spending more time indoors. I was reading a couple articles concerning artificial lighting and the effects it can have on some individuals. Hope they can help someone.

http://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/blue-light-has-a-dark-side

http://www.ledsmagazine.com/articles/2010/11/light-and-human-health-led-risks-highlighted.html

Because we had a dog always - a large dog that had to be run every day - DH and I would have to bundle all up and take off to the park every evening, even in the winter to allow her to run free for an hour or so.It was also very good for us, we got exercise and we got out side. Unfortunately, it would be dark by the time we went so we did not get any sunshine, but at least got shed of that feeling of being stuck inside. During those times was when we decided we would spend winters in Fl. as soon as we retired, and we started saving toward that goal.

We enjoy warm (not hot) winter days along the Carolina coast. Mostly 50s and 60s. A handful of days are in the 30's.

I let the sun warm our cottage during the day. It's painted a bright happy color called *Coconut*. A creamy color with a hint of sunshine yellow. So even on rainy days, it's looks bright and cheery.

We're at the Jersey shore now working on a house we just bought. It was rainy and gloomy on Saturday and the inside of this house is painted dark colors (and panelled--yuck).

How I missed my happy home! Can't wait to paint this place bright creamy hues! (I'm thinking salt water taffy colors.)

The HOA wants to paint every house in the plan white - YUCK - myself and many others are fighting them tooth and nail. Some people chased the painters away and refused to allow them to paint that color. We have gotten an attorney to intercede in this - all house painting is on hold - and it is going to court. We tried everything else - petitions etc. They are actually planning to paint the whole house white - trim and all. Everything white. I am betting there was some kickback from the painting company or something.

I Web searched: 'Is looking at blue light safe?' And ran across this site: www. live science. com .......... And an article that is interesting: 'LED lights may damage eyes' (computer screens, etc.) ..........(Personally I would prefer LED's vrs. CFLs.) But, thought this article is fairly interesting, since I recall, many years ago, about either blue sunglasses OR blue light being not- so- good for our eyes. It was so long ago, and who knows what transpired in all of that time.......
