no way is it a meteor. They don't "hang around" long enough to have so many stand and stare and take pictures. They are quick.

No, didn't see it. Lots of lights here and it wouldn't be that great a view. Looks like a comet but then if the military is testing something, we would be given a story as to what we should believe it is.

“Light seen in OC sky was confirmed through JWA tower to be a Naval test fire off the coast,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said on Twitter, referring to John Wayne Airport in the city of Orange.

A Navy spokesman told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the luminous object was an unarmed Trident missile that was test-fired from a submarine off the coast of Southern California.

They fire rockets from Vandenberg out over the ocean all the time. I could see them when I lived in Santa Monica.

I just heard on CBS Sunday Morning that it was a test missle from a Navy submarine.
