El Capitan OS...anyone else having problems?

I got a message from Apple about their upgrade OS El Capitan. I installed it and almost immediately I started having problems. First, I could not shut it down or restart it or force quit it the proper way. I had to power it off, which is very hard on the Hard Drive. Next my keyboard started acting wonky and wouldn't let me type words. Instead, it shot out a whole line of dots or symbols and beeped over and over. Then, I was unable to log in after it was in sleep mode. It also would not let me go to certain websites. It just stuck on the website url and wouldn't move. I had none of these problems with Yosemite. After a week and a half of constantly powering off my computer, over two hours on the phone with Apple tech support, and two separate appointments in person at the "Genius Bar" in the Apple store, I may have things working again. However, I now have a week and a half of troubleshooting hours that I will never get back. I am still having some problems with the keyboard, but I put fresh batteries in, hoping that the dynamics will change. Has Mac user here had problems with el capitan?

Forgot to say that the guy removed my old backup drive software and I bought a brand new one which was installed yesterday. I had problems with that, too, because it was formatted for a PC, and even though they had a spot to click for Mac, it wasn't working. The genius guy solved that, but I have to say that the people at Seagate who manufactured the drive, got back to me immediately and sent a long, easy to understand list of things I could do to get it installed properly. By that time, I didn't need the list, but I give them props for getting back to me right away.

There are MANY known problems with El Capitan that run the gamet from conflicts with Firefox, printers, local hosts, Mail app, Microsoft Office and Exchange server apps, and even hardware glitches. You can see lots of them being discussed on the Apple Community boards and also just by googling. Apple has released a couple of fixes already in subsequent updates, but they've got a lot more to deal with. I've had several glitches, but I'm one of the lucky ones. Many people I know have had to deal with many more problems than I have. So, it's not just you, RainyDayGirl!

Yeah, just a few minutes ago, my keyboard quit responding except to beep and send out a bunch of signals. I couldn't to a search or type on any of the applications. I restarted twice. The first restart, my mouse and track pad were frozen and the menu bar had disappeared. So I had to power down to shut it off and start over. Finally on this try I was back up and running. I checked the Apple Community, but didn't find that particular problem. I am so frustrated.

Yes, I've had many glitchy type problems. The most annoying are the myriad of issues that I have now with MailApp. I've had to delete acct and start over. Same with printer. Needed to remove printer and allow the macbook pro el capitan to "find" it again, to get it to work(printer called by a new name ... again). Not too big, but eats up a lot of time trying to find the solution, then to resolve it. I've had problems with speed, which I understood and motivated me to install elC, was supposed to improve with the el capitan. It has not improved, and in certain cases, such as mail, it is much worse. There are the usual problems with many of the "handshakes" that the newest programming fails to anticipate and code for, but these seem to be increasing. It seems to be getting like Windows, where the programs get so large and complex as they are added to, that nobody can ever fully know if the code will cover all instances.

When I installed El Capitan I didn't seem to have any issues. Then when the first update came out I installed that. Shortly there after I started having issues pages opening randomly, pages back and forth, stalling, had to force quit alot and reopen in Safe Mode.

Another poster has given me a lot of guidance and I've been trying to diagnose via reading the Apple Support Forums and other articles.

I haven't had any issues in my mail application (fingers crossed). Alot of issues with pointer jumping around when I am typing here and in regular email. At this point my track pad is not operating so I attached an optical mouse.

I have a couple of things I have to try before heading to the Apple Store.

But I am just curious, is it possible to uninstall El Capitan and the update and return to Yosemite or would that just mess things up even more?
