This one is a biggie! I read that it is the biggest storm ever! Category 5! That could cause a lot of damage even very far inland! I'm praying it will weaken before it hits land.

I don't know where I've been. I just saw this on the MSN homepage. They are calling it a "catastrophic hurricane."

I hope God watches over the people that are in the path of this hurricane ....they definitely should leave the area ASAP .... a category 5 hurricane is something unreal .... I went thru Hurricane Sandy 3 years ago & that was horrible & it was no where near category 5!!!!

Jimmeny Christmas! I think Katrina was a 4 but this one is a 5! We may get the tails here in Los Angeles which means rain. It's much needed but I'm not very excited about the way it will arrive. Those folks have to be nervous right now.

In DFW right now we are having flash flood warning...lots of water, but probably not due to hurricane. Stay safe!

I went through Hurricane Andrew and if anyone is anywhere close by to any effects of this storm, please take it beyond seriously. Mother Nature is nothing to play with and when it's too late it's really too late.

If you think you'll sit in your house and watch the big bad storm outside, you won't because the house starts to not exist around you when it's this bad. And nothing and no one can help you until it's over which can be a full day later. Think about it if you are in the path of this and please heed the warnings and stay safe.

I too went through Andrew with its 200+ MPH gusts and was always thankful that it was a relatively "dry" storm. I can't comprehend Patricia's sustained winds in that range and the amount of rain expected. Not only is Mexico going to be devastated but if the rain predictions for the U.S., particularly Texas, are any where near accurate there is going to be a lot of flooding and damage there too.

Millions of people are going to be impacted. So much worse with Patricia coming in along the western coast than when a hurricane crosses from the gulf.

Good advice. I saw someone in Texas post "Bring it on!!!" on Facebook and called her out for saying something so cavalier about a storm that's very likely going to kill people.

Good post. My husband thinks many will cross the border here in any way they can to avoid the catastrophe.

There are also others capitalizing on the event. Tee shirts, cocktail drinks, etc. When will people learn.

I have missionary friends in Mexico. Will contact them to make sure they are in a safe place when the storm hits. They may not be aware of the danger.

The national hurricane service is saying it will cross Mexico to the northern Gulf of mexico so the rain events will occur in Houston and along the northern Gulf states. they did not say anything about California, but you never know how a hurricane may turn.

They have evacuated everyone in the areas it is predicted to impact while still a hurricane, 50,000 people.

That's one crazy storm! Beyond the initial impact, I can't imagine how Mexico will handle recovery. When I was in Puerto Vallarta, the power went on and off many times a day. The power even went out at the airport. Can you imagine how long it will take to get power up and running again if it's that fragile a system?

My my prayers for everyone and also remember TX and Louisiana if this course doesn't change.

The meteorologists in this area are taking this storm very seriously.

I think they're unsure how much, if any, will hit southern CA.

CNN is saying it will be stronger than Andrew and Katrina. The strongest storm ever. In the world.

"While its strength could fluctuate, "Patricia is expected to remain an extremely dangerous Category 5 hurricane through landfall," the U.S. National Weather Center said in its 10 a.m. CT advisory."

They say they are expecting 20" of rain but don't expect it to stay on land all that long....I certainly hope that's right.
