I really like Kerstin and admire her strong family values. I also enjoy her deep faith and how it guides her each day. Does anyone know what religion/faith she follows?

I always try to associate with people I admire, regardless of their faith. But I am extremely dedicated to my faith, so I couldn't very well join their churches as we come from various religions and backgrounds.

I think the hosts portray an image they and their bosses want us to believe they really are. Who and what they are in real life, may be something completely different. Don't drink tthe Kool-Aid.

anniemae, I admire Kerstin as a host and a mom and wife. This lady seems to care for everyone. Did you read that she does the 60 mile walk for breast cancer? I think I read that QVC is giving her time off in Nov. to do it again. I also think she is Catholic which I am also but what ever faith she associates with she does take it seriously and I find that to be wonderful. She and her husband seem to have a very wonderful marriage and enjoy doing so many different things together. They are good dancers and love to dance with their little girls. So glad you started this thread about Kerstin I enjoy her so much when she is hosting can't find one thing bad to say about her.

I agree, there is one "character" to appeal to a portion of the demographic

It is obvious she is walking the talk on her religion... she was discussing a huge party to celebrate Jesus's birthday with a cake she had yesterday... and this morning she is wearing a huge cross around her neck. Next she will be wearing a sandwich board with all the details.. some people like to do that.... her business, no problem.

I am finding lately more and more that many of the hosts pour on the sugar & sweetness and try to convince us they are fabulous role models living exemplary lives. This really comes out in the blogs. Maybe Q management thinks if we think highly of the hosts, we'll buy more?? I highly doubt they all have these fabulous lives and are so perfect.

QVC is the only shopping channel I know of that lets the host discuss their religion on air. I think is is stepping outside of the box in a negative way. We do not need to discuss religion when selling tupperware. Just like on these talk boards... religion is pretty much not a subject allowed. And for a reason. Lets keep religion in Church and home and not on a shopping Channel.

It's all about sales. The hosts want you to like them so you will relate to them and buy from them. Don't fall for it. These people are not your friends.

Well, with trying to make people like them, it's gone completely the opposite with me. Most of us can see right through the act.

I always liked Jill for just that reason. No acting, no bragging, no anything. Just an honest and professional way of selling.
There are so many good people on QVC, but most of them have been there a good long time and know not to be silly and childish.

I've reached the point where I no longer watch the newer ones. Even one who has been on for seven years has still not matured!!

Sharke was addressing the OP who stated she wishes she had stronger beliefs. She wasn't suggesting that people change the faith they already have.

I think some people are skeptical of everyone. I know many people who like to share their faith. They don't push it on others, but they talk openly about what it means to them. I am not offended in the least.

Because the hosts sell for a living, the more cynical among us naturally thinks there's an agenda going on. Personally, I don't think so, but everyone is free to believe as they wish.

I am not familiar with this host, but the thing about religion is that it is a very powerful and a very personal belief. It's easy for those who do share the host's religious beliefs to think nothing of such a presentation, however, those who don't share that particular faith or those who do not subscribe to any particular faith can be made to feel like outsiders during such religious "sharing".

Just like a Holiday forum is available for those who choose to participate in religious discussion....so should that same respect be applied to a shopping channel's presentations. It would be thoughtful to everyone to have an "Items of Faith" show so that those who do not wish to hear personal religious stories can choose not to tune in for that particular time slot.

I've seen her a few times, I don't know much about her but to be honest, I am not a fan of this trend toward preaching religion and tallking about one's faith on shopping channels. There's a place for such discussions.....and this isn't it. I was brought up and raised my children in the belief that religion, politics and money are subjects we discuss with people we are close to. If someone is selling me shoes or hamburger, I don't care what their beliefs are.

Some Jtv hosts have been doing it for years. Especially Heidi, she practically preaches a sermon if she's doing a show on Sunday mornings. One of the Liquidation Channel hosts gets carried away with it too. I don't get it. I think it's inappropriate. When we were kids, my Grandfather called it "wearing one's religion on his sleeve". Just "believing" isn't enough for them; they want the whole world to know. It's tacky. The weird thing is that the hosts can blah blah blah about it all but our board babysitters would never allow any discuss of religion or politics here....double standard anyone....lol
