Please Keep In Mind - You Don't Speak For Me! Only For Yourself!

Please everyone, keep in mind that when you express an opinion here, you are speaking only for yourself. You do not speak for me. Posts that say "we all" or "everyone here" or "everyone," "everybody," "we all wish" make me bristle. (No, I'm not upset, I just bristle at the presumption of the poster).

Each poster can only speak for herself or himself. Please do not include my opinions in your generalization to make your point. Please keep in mind that it is extremely presumptuous of you - and oftentimes erroneous - to do so. You are only expressing your own opinion here, not mine. I am perfectly capable of having my own thoughts and opinions and beliefs, which certainly may not be the same as yours.

I don't think they speak for me either - but it's prsumptuous for people to think they do! That everyone shares their view on something. Not "everyone" does, and I think that's good for them to keep in mind when posting. That's all.

Yes, agreed, but it's not like the people who routinely post as if their beliefs, thoughts and opinions are the only ones will change that, or even pause before posting. People are who they are, and as adults they've been doing it too many years to change - nor do they want, or feel the need, to change to "accomodate" others.

All you can do is grit your teeth, hold your tongue/fingers much of the time, and call out the most egregious examples.

Feelings are feelings and especially here where we don't hear tone of voice or see expressions that accompany a voice, it's quite possible to read some posts and feel as if someone believes EVERYONE feels as the writer does.

Around here, I often can ignore those posts although sometimes when someone shouts about an issue that's been visited time and time again and seems to be trying to tell QVC that EVERYONE hates what's going on, I just know I'm not part of everyone. Sometimes I answer here and sometimes I just make cetain QVC gets my views another way.

Where I resent the implication far more than here is when some politician tells me everyone wants something. No, definitely not everyone. Not even close.

@Moonchilde I agree to some extent. But it doesn't hurt to make people aware that that should be choosing their words more carefully. Awareness is the first step towards change.

@Lila Belle I try my best not to do that. If you can find actual posts of mine to quote where I have, then please bring them to my attention by quoting them so I can see them and edit them. If you can't find any, then your remark is simply another one of yours to be snarky at me.

@Moonchilde I agree to some extent. But it doesn't hurt to make people aware that that should be choosing their words more carefully. Awareness is the first step towards change.

It's my opinion that most of the people who do this, do it knowingly, have been reminded before, and just don't care 😤 But you're right, there may be some that are new to posting in (any) forums and don't yet understand that posting style can make or break you 😉

I would like to see the following words permanently banished from all posts - bashing, angry, mad, get a life, jealous. Because two people disagree does not mean one should be accused of those above mentioned things. I see those words used a lot unnecessarily.

There have been other posters who have assumed that we are all of one mind. Just because a few of them get together to agree, they imagine that their Muttual Admiration Society is the majority. It isn't.
