Arizona here and it's still in the 90's and supposed to be 99 on Monday. Maybe by Halloween. At least it isn't 95 at 6:00 in the morning anymore. It pretty much hits the high around 3:00 and starts dropping. It's in the high 60's low 70's in the mornings so great in the am.

It was as hot or hotter at the beach today than a few miles inland. 91 degrees in Santa Monica. I have a/c in my bedroom - which I pretty much never leave in this kind of weather :-( It's kind of like being held hostage. My parents live in the east Bay Area of California and ran into that all summer.

Here it's in the 90s and 100s every day for the summer, but we do have AC. At least you're getting a break soon and it cools down at night. Here it's going to be in the 90s for the next week or more and while the report says we have a low of 64, that happens at 6:00 in the morning. My AC broke last week and I couldn't even open a window because it was in the 80s until midnight. We should have a cold front a week from now that may send us into the high 80s for a few days.

I only know it's fall because the office coffee stand has a sign advertising pumpkin spice lattes right next to the sign advertising iced strawberry lemonade.

I think if I lived where it got as hot as 100 degrees and I didn't have AC, I'd be out buying at least a window unit, especially since this may be the norm from now on.

It has cooled off beautifully here in the Albuquerque area. I've been wearing my cozy fleece shirt in the evenings but back to the 80's next week.

Henny,

I have gone through a horrible, hot summer near Silicon Valley. A week ago we were dying. Last week it was in the low 90's, and cooled down at night, which was tolerable.

My husband and I flew to SoCal, (Burbank) Thursday, and were greated with hot, hot 107 weather! Hot winds. We had 119 degree weather where I live in NoCal a month a ago, and I swear it wasn't as hot as this 107. It is a weird heat!!!! It was 103 after dark. Warm like you can't feel your breath. It never fails. Last week it was cooler here and rained . But as soon as we step off the plane , it heats up. I swear we come here 7 times a year. It can be 70, 80 degrees before we get here, but as soon as our plane lands there is a heat wave! We have been here in December, and it was 89 to 91. January last year it was hot as well. I don't know how my daughter tolerates it. They hate the heat, but their jobs are here.

Size up, as it were. My bedroom is average apt size - 10x12 or thereabouts. I first had a 5000 BTU a/c and it didn't really do the job very well but was still better than nothing. It finally died after 14 years, and the one I have now is 8000 BTU. It does the job, even in weather like we're having now. It's not chilly in the room, but I can get it down to 68-70 in the wee hours of the morning. A/C (even central) only cools 15 degrees from the house temp/outside temp. In the super heat we had 2-3 weeks ago, it was 91 degrees inside when I would get home, and about 76 was the lowest I got - but still comfortable.
