I put this on VP's but wanted to share it over here as well:

I learned a lesson this morning. I have been giving our dog a chemo pill for over two months now.

We moved so I had to find a new vet/pharmacy, yesterday my dh picked up the refill for her chemo drug and it has warning labels saying not to touch the drug without wearing gloves, laytex gloves were included in the bag.

The previous two prescriptions had no such warning labels nor did anyone mention anything about not touching the pill.

I called the vet this morning to inquire about it and they said I should call my Physician as soon as possible. I called a friend of ours who is an ER doc and has been for years. He advised me to call Poison Control.

Since I didn't open the capsule, which apparently some do and sprinkle it on the dog's food, she said they don't feel I'm in an emergency situation but I am to call my Opthalmologist(have had an infection in my eyes for 2 months now) tomorrow as well as the maker of the drug and discuss it with them.

Who knew? From now on I will ask if there are any additional precautions I need to take when I'm given a drug that doesn't have any stickers on it nor any pamphlets attached with it.

I had researched it online, but only what side-effects and symptoms to look for in the dog.

Also, they should state on the bottle for people not to open the capsule, I didn't do this but I guess some have. Scary.
