I am not a fan of Dolly Parton's but I watched a video of her and Kenny Rogers sing a song titled "You can't make old friends" and it was fabulous. So true.

We moved to Florida 5 years ago and have made some friends there but the fact is they are not at all the same as friends you have for years and years. Those friends who have remained with you throughout all the mistakes you have made in your life , who are closer than family and will always be there to support you.

A great song, because it is sooooo true.

Preds, those words of that song prettty much sum up the voice of one of my best friends who moved to Florida 6 years ago to get away from our winters up here in Pa. I talk to her at least once a week and she always says she will never have a friend down there and be as close to them as she is with me. We have known each other for at least 49 years. I miss her coming through my doors at a drop of a hat for a cup of coffee or just to see what I was doing.

When I was a Brownie and we would sing that song, I would always be mystified by it and think to myself, "I'm seven years old! How many old friends can I have?"

Great song! Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'm sending a Youtube link of this song to my old friend from high school. We've been friends for over 50 years.

Oh does that Brownie song ever bring back memories! We also chanted criss cross double cross nobody else can play with us. Now what does that say about the the Brownie credo back in the day.LOL
