Is there a Way to Un-Heart a Post?

I hearted by accident, and now I want to unheart. Is there any way to do it?

Yes. Click on the three dots on the upper right corner of the post you hearted and scroll down to the option of revoking a heart.

Even if I hearted a post by accident, I don't think I could unheart it. I would feel bad. I think I'd just let it go.

If you heart by accident and then that same topic of discussion comes up again which let's say you were always 100% against....you will then be called a hypocrite as someone will throw it up to you that you hearted someone with the exact point of view that you are now saying you oppose. Hard to believe I know but posters are not allowed to change their minds on any given topic or allowed to make an error like hearting an opinion they're against.

I have hearted several times by accident. I was reading replies & clicked the mouse when it was near where you heart. LOL!!! I thought oh well. I guess if someone calls me a hypocrite later for it so be it. I don't even remember who I hearted or what the subject was.

I'm not worried about anyone calling me a hypocrite on these forums anymore. Sunny .... we all know you are a good soul, so don't lose any sleep over the fact that anyone is or may be keeping a running tally on who hearts who.

Thank you skuggles. I decided not to unheart. It's not a very big deal anyway, but I wanted to know how to do it, just in case. I'm still confused over a few features on this new and improved (?) board!

I don't even understand this hypocrite thing. If you accidentally click on something and then you unclick, that makes you a hypocrite? I can't see how, but then again, a lot makes no sense around here.

When first new to the system, I hearted someone by mistake but the topic was very benign and I did not unheart it.

I would only unheard if I was morally opposed to what they said...otherwise what really does it matter.I am sure many people heart just to be kind.

A heart is a gift. If you mistakenly give someone a gift, taking it back is shabby and improper.

It's always interesting to see the variety of views on a given topic here, isn't it?

The "heart" feature, for the most part, means we agree with or appreciate the content of a post. The way this website jumps around at times, it can be easy to click the wrong place or on the wrong reply. (eta: In most cases, no one will ever know we made the change.) Just my opinion, but if I mistakenly "heart" a post I disagree with... I don't think that's a gift. It's a mistake and it never occurred to me that anyone would think it odd to correct a mistake. In the same way on Facebook or other social sites if we hit the "Like" or "Thumbs Up" option in error, there's no shame in correcting the error.

I realize you're acting as a reporter on the subject of forums and posts, so what I'm writing isn't meant for you but to those who use the word "hypocrite" so loosely. Taking charge of one's actions is not being a hypocrite. And as dooBdoo said, it has more to do with making a mistake than anything else.

And so what if someone hearts a similar subject and then later disagrees with something similar? There are all sorts of reasons this could happen, from a clear change of mind to an appreciation of tone. I've never understood this ridiculous need for everyone to be held to iron-clad confines of thinking or action.

The only one who knows you gave, which is a verb or synonym for the verb or noun gift, a heart to a post is the recipient. So, does anyone think a poster is going to make an issue of it.

I highly doubt that anyone would ever notice that someone removed a heart from them. In order to notice, a person would need to be keeping a 100% accurate running total of all their hearts every second, and notice that between 12:06 and 12:07 they "lost" a heart. Who does that?

ETA that the person would also need to have a separate 100% accurate minute-by-minute tally of how many hearts each individual poster had ever given you.
