How dentists are now reviewed

I thought you might be particularly interested in this recent online review of a dentist. It's just as posted, only the name has been removed. (Edited to add: I did not publish this review. I found it in a random search for a new dentist.)

K..., aka Dr. ..., is the bomb of dentists. For starters, he DOES NOT HUNT LIONS. Or any other big game animals. In fact, he doesn't even have photos of his adorable kids around his office! He is personable, professional and gives you an honest evaluation of your options. When I broke part of a tooth, his office accommodated me quickly, I was presented with three different options and Dr. ... gave me an honest evaluation of all three, even recommending the more affordable porcelain replacement over a crown. I've been very happy coming here and highly recommend him. Plus, if you have to be staring at something open mouthed, he's not a bad choice, either!

Thanks for posting! Although I know my dentist personally and have seen him professionally for 15 years, I checked with him to make sure he doesn't hunt.

His reply? I hunt only cavities, and I have one I'm saving for Walter Palmer !

Is that what you think the topic is? This isn't a rehash of the Cecil threads. This is to point out that people are using current events to rate their dentists online.

My dentist is a wimp and couldn't kill even a ant. He does not want to see anything experience pain. The kind of dentist I want.

Many years ago I started with his father...wonderful kind gentle man. He joined his dad and I been with their family practice while all of us grow old together. Feels like a happy family event.

I love my dentist. She is female and from India and believe the cow is a sacred animal. She is a complete vegatarian.

This description could be my dentist. WOW - what a guy. I've recommended so many people I know to go to this guy. He & his entire staff are very personable, friendly, knowledgeable. He's really known for excellent and KIND care to the kids. I'll be honest, many years I didn't, couldn't even go to a dentist because of extremely hurtful experiences I've had in the past with really bad dentists ie drilling my nerve, sending me through the ceiling with PAIN!!!

My guy assesses what needs to be done, how he'll do it, how long it will take. He's in and out of my mouth in record time, and it certainly is not because he needs to move onto the next patient just for his bank account. He KNOWS exactly how long a procedure will take, he is AMAZING!!! And he will not do work that's not necessary or not ready to do yet.

Giving you, Dr Slack a Columbus OH shout out!!!! If you live her or are close by, GO to this man, he is THE BOMB in dentistry!!!

I guess I don't understand what being a dentist has to do with being a hunter. Just because one notoriously (morally wrong IMO) hunted and killed a big game animal should we assume all do? Kind of silly and wrong too.

By assuming all people within a given group act a certain way are how stereotypes begin.

Good grief, this board just makes laugh out loud at times. So, now I should judge a dentist based on whether or not he hunts big game? lol Is fishing allowed? As for the dentist who killed Cecil, I don't hold him responsible at all. I think he relied 100% on his guides. How would he know if a particular line was protected or not? How would he know if he was in area where he shouldn't have been? That was the job of his guides who obviously are at fault for Cecil's death. I don't like hunting but it's not on my list of criteria for choosing dentist. It's not on my list of criteria for choosing a gynecologist either...lol I don't care if my doctors hunt (as long as it's not people) or ski or gamble or cheat on their tax returns. I only care about their professional skills as it pertains to my healthcare. What they do in their personal life is their business.

First of all I won't engage in an argument with you about killing 'lines' (sic), except to say IMO your opinions of what did and did not occur in the killing of Cecil are not consistent with proved fact. Whether Walter Palmer is ever called to face justice this time is a different matter.

NO ONE is suggesting that one choose a service provider based on any criteria other than credentials, and quality.

I make it my choice NOT to pick one who has repeatedly violated the same / similar laws because I think that makes them unscrupulous, poor decision makers, arrogant, slow learners, or all of the above. But, that's my choice.

Irony & tongue in cheek sarcasm were the point of the Dentist review / recommendation posted here.

onewhiteSparrow hit the nail on the head - at least for me. When I am looking for a health care professional, I evaluate their level of compassion and caring along with their knowledge, skill and training.

If someone is willing to cause unecessary pain and suffering to one living creature and cannot understand why that is a concern to others, then they may be willing to cause unecessary pain and suffering to another living creature - namely me.

So it's simple really. If you are willing to inflict pain simply for your own benefit or pleasure, I have no use for you - personally or professionally.

The only things I know about my dentist are; He goes sailing (the nautical type pics are hanging in his office), he is a nice and good dentist that has done extensive wonderful work to give me a dynamic smile. (and continues to do so). And he looks like Santa Claus! lol. (but not as heavy). I don't get into his private life, or the lives of any of my Dr.'s!

I am however saddened and sickened about what happened to Cecil, as well as what goes on all over this world where animals, and human beings are concerned, as well as the way we as a society are destroying earth.

If only everyone was as passionate about all the wrong doings in this world, like they have been about Cecil. The world would be a better place.

My husband and son share a dental practice. They do not hunt or fish. I'm sure there is something they believe in, support, do, drive, or eat that would offend some on this board.
