got a friend of my daugher a job after looking for over a year. She was looking for an entry level job in marine biology which was what her degree is in and flew down to San Diego for a final interview. She was one of 5 left out of a field of 25.

I met her and her mother for lunch couple weeks ago when she came up for lunch. I told her how I gotten every job I had interviewed for. I followed up with a thank you note. I thanked the person who took the time to interview me for considering me for the job. I thanked them for giving me the chance to explain why I wanted to work for the company and why I would be a good fit for the company.

The daughter told me that she didn't think anyone did that anymore. Later her mom told her that she thought it was a good thoughtful idea and couldn't hurt.

She got the job and the person who interviewed her said that it was between her and another person and she thought she would have to toss a coin. But she got her card and thought it to be so thoughtful and considerate she decided to hire her. I got a thank card from her in todays mail.

Never estimate the power of a thank you card.
