Well, UPS really messed up!

I ordered Meredith Lawrenc's new pressure cooker cookbook on Sunday and the tracking shows it was delivered today. Yay! or so I thought . . . .

I get home and find an absolutely huge box. Um, how big is this cookbook?? I go to lift it to bring in the house and it's pretty heavy. Wow! Did a chef come with the cookbook??? Well, I open the box and what is inside? 5 nursing books for a high school on the other side of my state. UPS failure!!

So, I've called UPS about their snafu - the box had my QVC packing slip taped on the outside with one of their printed labels with my info on it. They are putting a trace on the cookbook. I'm supposed to get a call back from UPS within the hour about the mixup and hopefully schedule for UPS to pick this package back up. I guess my cookbook might be lost. I wonder if UPS is going to contact QVC about this or what? Anybody else have experience with this kind of mix up? TIA

Contact QVC Customer Service, and let them know what happened. I have had this situation, and QVC sent out a replacement. Best of luck to you.

UPS is pretty good with this sort of thing so they'll probably find the box with your tracking number on it.

What I like, and only recently discovered, is that they have some sort of GPS on the package/labeling.

I had a parcel that said it was delivered, yet it wasn't delivered to MY house. So I called them and they GPS'd it and saw that it was delivered two houses up the street from my house. I was amazed that they were able to tell me exactly where my package was.

Of course, I have to admit that I hit the street before I got my call back from UPS and found the package on their doorstep.

But they always call back and I've always found them to be knowledgeable and helpful.

Why is UPS responsible for Q's mix up? I don't understand.

I've had items delivered to me that I didn't order but my name and info was on the box/package. Last one was for some gal in Hawaii.

Also order a rug and it disappeared. UPS didn't have it nor did the Q. Turned out to be the Q's irresponsibility.

I've had UPS deliver my items to the wrong address before. I never did find out what happened to the original delivery, but I contacted UPS and the company I made the purchase from and they worked it out between them and replaced my items very quickly.

Another time I got a UPS delivery that was a bag which had items missing. I contacted the sender (same sender as the missing box from the other story) and the customer service agent explained that UPS had already contacted them and replacement items had already been shipped and I was going to receive them the next day - which I did.

UPS should figure out what happened and replace your cookbook for you without you having to contact QVC. They may have to work together to determine responsibility, but you should get a replacement item no matter which of them was at fault and, in my experience, it's seamless and will require little to no effort on your part. The only think you'll need to do is repack the box of books you got and hand it to the UPS person they send to pick it up.

@Puzzle PieceUPS was responsible because what was in that box never came from QVC to begin with --unless QVC suddenly started to ship nursing textbooks and I don't think so.

Go back and read all of OP's post. Really sounds like a UPS screw-up to me - or at least one employee's screw-up at UPS.

This wasn't a QVC mix up - please reread my message. The package contained nursing books and last I knew, QVC doesn't sell those. No, this was a UPS mistake. The package had been damaged and my QVC label was taped on the box that UPS delivered. QVC uses glue with attaching their envelopes that contain the invoice.

Well, UPS just called. I had to call QVC to initiate the damaged call tag. The CS Rep at QVC was very helpful and is refunding the purchase because the book is now on waitlist. She is to send an email to their corporate office to initiate the call tag so UPS can pick up the box of textbooks. Hopefully that gets done.

Ahh, bummer. QVC will need to send your order out again, or refund as they did, because there is no way, outside of chance, that your parcel will be found, since the UPS label was removed.

Everybody makes mistakes but the real bummer part of something like this is it seems inevitable that YOUR item dis one that is out of stock so they can't even replace it. Hopefully, you can keep an eye on it and it will come back into stock - or become available elsewhere.

Also, you might check Amazon. Usually, they have the cookbooks that QVC sells only they are actually less expensive on Amazon.

Amazon does have it, but Amazon won't be shipping until October and QVC was shipping immediately, Sept 10 for advanced orders. It's only $2 less, so I might be willing to pay a few dollars more to get something faster.

But you're right, I always check Amazon. In fact, that's where I got my David Venable cookbook.

UPS can easily mess things up. One day, a neighbor in my apt bldg knocked on my door & handed over a pkg from QVC. The bldg address was "1234 EAST xyz street." Somehow, UPS had affixed a label to "1234 WEST xyz street." The bizarre thing was that the neighbor worked at a business at the "west" address, recognized my name & brought it to me. Really weird, but not QVC' s fault.

Oh bummer about the wait. What I'd do is put it in my 'wishlist' at Amazon. The price will go down after it comes out, almost guaranteed.

I guess if somebody prefers to purchase it at QVC, the good thing is that Meredith is a regular there so they WILL get it back in. I really like Meredith but I just don't buy cookbooks anymore.

I ordered the little cream cheese filled bagels from QVC. UPS missed a connection and delivered them to me with no dry ice, and they were warm. When I called CS they immediately said throw them away, and issued a refund. I stressed that this is in no way the venders fault or QVC. I just hope they don't just count this as a return for the vender, and have it count against them.

It's more than $7 less at Amazon, if you are a Prime member. Naturally, it would be worth the extra dollars if you don't want to wait until Oct 1. I order so much from Amazon that the Prime membership fee is well worth it. Just a week or so ago, I ordered a cookbook from Amazon that was $10 less than the QVC price+s/h. Both had a late-Sep delivery date as that's when the publisher is releasing it.

I'll definitely be checking Amazon for the cookbook! My pressure cooker is to be delivered tomorrow - unless I get more textbooks! LOL I'm going to call the school tomorrow and let them know what happened and that hopefully UPS will come and pick the books up.
