Lion Kills Safari Guide

Where's the outrage? Where's the ranting and raving? A lion kills a guide in the same Zimbabwah park where Cecil lived and not a word about it. Does no one care about preserving us as a species? About exacting revenge for this atrocity. Should he be euthanized? Hardly seems fair to ignore it.

"(CNN)A safari guide has been mauled to death by a lion in the same Zimbabwean national park where Cecil the lion lived.

Quinn Swales was taking a group of tourists on a walking safari in Hwange National Park on Monday morning when a lion suddenly charged, the company he was working for said.

"Quinn did everything he could to successfully protect his guests and ensure their safety," the company, Camp Hwange, said on its Facebook page, adding that no other members of the group were hurt."

Why would they be walking where there are lions roaming about?

I'm not at all outraged, the lion didn't break into the man's home, he was just protecting his territory.

There were young cubs in the pride. Adult lion protecting his pride. An elephant also killed a guide last month. You go out into their realm, your risk.

I guess the lion was saying, my home, my rules.

Sorry for the loss of life, but anytime you are wandering around in areas where wild animals are wandering around, in their home and element, it's risky business.

Tragic. This man must have been very frightened, but behaved very bravely. The stories indicate that the guide used his body to protect the tourists.

I see a man in a poor county, who took a difficult and dangerous job, most likely to feed his family. He suffered, and he was a hero.

I have no desire to make light of his death.

Probably because those tours they take people on generate the money needed to keep the reserve open and the wardens paid. They don't patrol the area for free...............and since the lions, as well as the other animals, aren't gainfully employed and don't pay for sercurity, it has to be gotten from somewhere.............................raven

No one is making light of his death. He took a high risk job with wild animals. He should have been aware of the consequences.
