Beautiful moon tonight

The moon is lovely tonight. The official full moon isn't until Saturday, but tonight's version is bright and wonderful.

From almanac.com for this "Sturgeon Full Moon" on 8/29: "Some Native American tribes called the August Moon the "Sturgeon Moon" because they knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this full Moon."

I pulled the shade down in my southeast window two nights ago and saw the moon - looked pretty full then. I'll make it point to more check it out tomorrow night.

Truly amazing how the full moon lights up the night sky.

Posted this under "Supermoon": local wisdom calls the last full moon at end of August " Buck Moon " because male deer begin to grow the velvety antlers, a prelude to mating season.

I was following the the Farmer's Almanac reference that calls the July moon the "buck moon" and the August full moon the "sturgeon moon."
