They're the photos we've all seen before - a beaming couple celebrating their parenthood as they capture that tender moment with their newborn baby.

But for one young couple, they have created a set of professional photographs in which their beloved puppy, named Humphrey, takes the place of a newborn instead.

Abby Lee, 23, and her boyfriend Matt Kay, 25, lovingly cradled their four-legged bundle of joy in a series of heartwarming poses imitating the classic family shots - but with a furry spin.

Amazingly, the photo shoot, which only took two hours to take, was meant to be a joke playing off the cliche poses new parents would go to while showing their beautiful offspring to the world.

'We love dogs so much, we used to offer free dog walking just so we could make some furry friends. Now we have one of our own,' Ms Lee, from the Central Coast of NSW, told Daily Mail Australia.

'We didn't think much into the photo shoot - it was something we wanted to do for a laugh and we knew it would be humorous for our friends and family.

'It was more of a last minute thing we decided to do. It ended up being a great afternoon and we were in hysterics the entire time.'

From the nine-week-old infant being pushed in a pram to the feet under the blanket shot, these stunning collection of images feature the intimate ways pets are humanised by their owners.

'Humphrey is a part of our family and we absolutely adore him,' Matt, from Melbourne, told Daily Mail Australia.

'It's hard to remember he isn't a human sometimes. We treat him like our own little child.'

While the loved-up pair, who have been together for more than two years, don't have an infant of their own, their adorable photographs have been gracing the walls of social media.

‘We don't plan on having kids anytime in the near future - sorry Mum!’ Ms Lee said as she laughed.

‘Both sides of our family give hints towards having children and at this point in time, Humphrey will be the closest they will get to a grandson.

They all adore him though and welcome him as a family member.’

Bringing a whole new meaning to ‘proud parents’, the three are pictured walking hand in hand bathed in soft rays of sunlight as well as posing altogether cozied up in bed.

And it turned out, Humphrey, a groodle, which is a cross between a purebred Poodle and Golden Retriever, was a natural in front of the camera.

‘Humphrey loved all the attention,’ Ms Lee said.

‘And I suppose the few extra treats he got for being so well behaved. He is such a gentle natured dog.’

Little Humphrey seemed to be completely in his element with his loving parents, as he posed without a care in the world during the photo shoot.

The photos were taken by their best friend and professional photographer Elisha Minnette, who often shoots parents with their 'real' newborns, weddings, fashion and senior portraiture.

'This shoot wasn't meant to be serious, it was just for abit of laugh and hopefully make someone's day when they see it posted on my facebook page,’ Ms Minnette, from Tuggerah on the Central Coast of NSW, told Daily Mail Australia.

'Every day, I see loads of photographers post images of newborn babies and they are all the same, including mine.

'Same pose, same props, same everything, so we wanted to re-recreate the shoot with a puppy. Abby and Matt live on a big property in a rural area, so we had a lot of gorgeous scenery in every direction. It was a hilarious day but we had a lot of fun.

'Making people smile and have a laugh was our intention for these images. We had absolutely nothing planned for this shoot, we just came up with the ideas on the spot. And sometimes, they turn out to be the best shoots.'

OMG - WHO DOES NOT LOVE PUPPIES!!!!! These photos are so sweet!!! I literally gasped when I saw the very first one because Puppy is so adorable!!!!! Walking baby holding his two front paws too cute!!!! Girl holding puppy over her shoulder with puppy paw over her shoulder - love this!!!

For all of us who are animal lovers and yeah I'll say it - dog lovers - we just eat this stuff up!!!! Thanks for sharing this photos!

This is really sweet. I find the word "skewer" unfortunate. I think those photos go way beyond whatever the initial intent was.

I do recall when my first dog came to live with me that I "forced" her picture on everyone at work and had not done that with my (human) baby. Of course, I wasn't working when my own baby was born, but still . . .!

He's so cute I can't stand it! So are they.

I remember when Ru was a little boy and one of the groups I was in wanted him to get a Facebook page. Well, I am really not a 'look at me!' kind of person so it took some convincing.

They wanted updates and pics. If there was a day when I didn't have anything everybody was there asking if we were ok.

I had a Facebook page back then too and he had more friends than I - which is perfectly fine.

This went on for quite some time until he was pretty much grown up and I felt it was getting a little silly so I cut his page and mine went shortly after that (Facebook is fine and I'm not dogging it - heh - it just wasn't for me).

Loved the pics. We have a poodle and golden retriever mix, but in our area they are called Golden Doodles. Best dog we have ever had. He is a big boy weighing in at 85lbs and he is 1 1/2 years old. His face would melt your heart, it's all in the eyes. Wish I knew how to post pictures, you would love Bentley.
