They're reporting that actor Morgan Freeman's granddaughter was murdered on the streets of Manhattan today.

She was stabbed multiple times to death.

Some suspect has been picked up outside of her apartment building.

Such tragedies on our streets.

Sorry to hear. When someone repeatedly stabs another excessively, they have quite a bit of anger.

Wonder if this thread will last as the mods are so touchy.

Most detectives will say stabbing usually indicates they knew each other. The Daily Beast is saying there are two different stories being reported...thats odd.

No matter what I personally think of Bill Cosby, it was equally such a crazy tragedy that befell his son. I mean, that, too, was such a violent and senseless murder.

Proving that no one is really safe. Or that money or association with some measure of fame sure doesn't buy anyone an easy pass necessarily in life - or on the streets.

Really sad to read about the death of this young lady, a tragedy for her family and loved ones.

I haven't watched a newscast about this yet so I won't speculate on why/who since I know absolutely nothing about this other than what I have read in this thread.

I will say that anyone that murders someone can be thought of as "mentally ill". Too many interpretations of those words by way too many analysts, both by professionals and simpletons like myself.

Condolences to her family.

Great a tragedy as this is, I'm so glad nothing happened to Morgan; the title scared me. I love Morgan Freeman! One of the greatest living actors!

This happened in Washington Heights, my daughter lived in that neighborhood for 4 years, she moved to TX exactly a year ago.

Since Deblasio came in the city is not as safe

I read that she was not a blood relative of Morgan, but rather the granddaughter of a wife he divorced many years ago. The relationship he had with her was helping her get into acting.
