    <description>&lt;P&gt;Ladies and Gentleman; I mentioned this during Christmas and decided you really should try it.  It is a lot of fiddle diddle, as my late MIL used to say but worth every minute of effort.  You will NOT be disappointed!!  My kids make me have it every holiday and birthday.&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;German Chocolate Pie&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1/3 cup sugar&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;3 Tablespoons Cornstarch&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1-1/2 cups milk&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1 -4 oz. bar German Sweet Cooking Chocolate, cut up&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1 Tablespoon butter&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;2 egg yolks beaten&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1 teaspoon vanilla&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1 9-inch baked pie shell&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1 egg beaten&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1 5-1/2 oz. can evaporated milk (2/3 cup)&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1/2 cup sugar&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1/4 cup butter&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1- 3-1/2 oz can flaked coconut*&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;1/2 cup chopped pecans&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;In a medium saucepan, combine 1/3 cup sugar and cornstarch.  Stir in milk, chocolate and 1 tablespoon butter.  Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly (med to med hi heat depending on your stove).  Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more.  Gradually stir about 1 cup of the hot mixture into egg yolks.  Return mixture to saucepan; bring to boiling.  Cook and stir 2 minutes more.  Stir in vanilla.  Turn hot pie filling into baked pie shell. &lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;In another smaller saucepan, combine beaten egg, evaporated milk, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup butter.  Cook and stir over medium heat &lt;SPAN style="text-decoration: underline;"&gt;just until&lt;/SPAN&gt; the mixture is thickened and bubbly. Stir in coconut and pecans.  Spread pecan mixture evenly over chocolate filling.  Cool on a wire rack; chill thoroughly.  Makes 10 servings.&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;**if you cannot find the canned coconut use a cup of the bagged kind&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt;Be sure to stir constantly or it will burn and curdle&lt;/P&gt; &lt;P&gt; &lt;/P&gt;</description>
