Wedding gift etiquette?

What is your wedding gift etiquette?

This bride in particular had her wedding registry printed on her bridal shower invite.

So I'm assuming to bring the registry gift to the shower & then a card with cash to the wedding? Or another gift to the wedding?

I am the only cousin, out of a big family, to get a plus 1, so I plan on doing more than I normally would.

What would you do?

I purchase the shower gift and the wedding gift from the registry.

I do a gift from the wedding registry for the Bridal Shower gift and give a check at the wedding.

Shower: give a gift -- from the registry or not.

Wedding: give a check, cash, or a gift from the registry or not

It is not mandatory to gift from the registery. I hate that people seem to think this is some sort of requirement (not directed at any posters, just in general).

I love giving a gift from the registery.

Obviously, they picked it out and I know it's something that's wanted and/or needed by the bride and groom.

I agree with others here. Buy a gift from their registry for the bridal shower and a check at their wedding.

Have fun! I just got an invite as well for a family member. She is having 2 bridal showers in 2 parts of the country since we are all spread out. I plan on attending one of them and the wedding as well.

I do what most others do. A gift off the registry for the shower and cash for the wedding.

For the shower, I normally give a gift card from where the bride is registered. I hate buying from those registrys. I can never find the item in the store (even though it usually has the aisle number, etc. to help you find it) or things I want are out of stock, etc. The only time I do a registry gift is when I order from the place online. .I do a check for the wedding.

I don't buy from the registry. (op's invite with bridal registry inside, tacky imo). I give a gift card for HER (bath & body etc.). Wedding, I give cash.

Times must have changed more than I realized. To me, the shower is a bridal shower, and gifts should be personal items for the bride. The wedding gifts are entirely different, and that's where the registry comes into play.

I agree. I'm guessing in some screwball way she thought she was being "helpful."

That is true. Or once was true. Or can be true if its strictly a bridal shower.

But today, more and more, its a "shower" which is for and includes both the bride and the groom. That makes the gift registry for such or gift ideas trickier and more wedding gift-like in general.

But I agree. If its a bridal shower intended to create a trousseau of sorts for the bride, then that is most traditional. And that registry (if there is to be one) should have a whole other slew of selections to choose from as opposed to wedding gift ideas).

Sounds like a ploy for double gift receipt to me.

If it's a couple I've known a long time, I make them a quilt. Otherwise it's a gift off the registry and check for the wedding

How about "be a dear and wrap in clear" printed under the registry stores.....
