topic The peanut butter filling in a Reeses cup? in Community Chat

I have made Reeses cup clones and buckeyes many times, trying different recipes, but I have yet to find a peanut butter filling that is exactly or even really close to a Reeses! Most of the recipes call for all or some of the following ingredients:

Peanut butter, Confectioners sugar, butter, finely ground graham cracker crumbs, salt, vanilla

Although most of these recipes come out tasting pretty darn good, nothing compares to a Reeses cup. The filling in a Reeses cup has a very distinct texture to me that seems impossible to copy. I think the addition of graham cracker crumbs helps, but the texture is still off. I think the confectioners sugar also makes the filing sweeter than a Reeses cup.

Does anyone have any ideas what makes the Reeses cup filling so distinct? Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? LOL
