I wanted to add that I also think people are not as good at a lot of things as they used to be.Excellence no longer is anyone's goal.Mediocre is fine.It's not just driving.

I don't think people should all be lumped together and described as though they're all alike. I believe that excellence is not as important to many, and many in today's business world, both individuals and corporations, don't seem to care much whether they do their jobs properly or not, but to say "excellence no longer is ANYONE'S goal" is just wrong.

Just one example is the manager of my local CVS Pharmacy - SHE is what keeps me coming back to that location - there is another one about the same distance in the other direction, but it's this manager's attitude and striving to make her store and her customer service the best that keeps me returning.

I see and hear every day about young people who are striving to be the best they can be, and older people trying to teach them the values that they themselves have lived by - in other words, excellence. Do the best you can possibly do at whatever you attempt to do - that philosophy has NOT entirely disappeared in this country.

OP, please speak for yourself in regards to your statement. As a known perfectionist, I don't agree at all. For example, most of my posts are edited because I always go back to check for misspellings and just to make it better said. Driving can be annoying but please don't get carried away. 'People' and 'anyone' need to be defined. Absolutes are usually never correct.
