Messages For the Moderators (or Webbie)

I seem to have such a problem with dates of posts on these forums. For example, if I open, say, Community Chat and look at the list of posts, the right hand colum says "yesterday" or "2m". However, when I actually open the post, I find that it is old and has been there for days - and it is very annoying. Moderators (or Webbie) - is it possible to just put an actual date in that right hand column? I have already fixed my computer so that specific posts show a date, but it is these lists of posts that seem not to work for me and I am sick of opening up old posts I have already read. I would appreciate it if you would give this request some consideration - or letting me know if there is something I can do on my computer. Thank you very much.

Fona, click on your name, then settings, then preferences, then display. After that you just uncheck the box that says "Use relative dates (three hours ago)." That will make the actual dates and times show up on the right hand side of the page. You still can't see the date of the first post until you actually click on the thread, but the moderators have said that they're working on that.

The confusion might be that that time is the most recent reply, not the date/time that the thread was started. If you click on that time, the thread will open to that most recent reply..

You can change your settings so that it shows actual date, instead of yesterday or 3 weeks ago, but the date the thread started has more value and I would like to see it displayed more prominently, also.

Yes, this is correct. The information on the first page is the time/date of the last response. If people are responding, there's activity, so I don't mind that. I just check the original post date when I open it and if it's very old and I think someone has resurrected an old and dead post, I don't post a response. Most of the posts with recently activity are either fairly new or very active, though.

I was glad to read this. I would like to see a thread start date/time.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I am really finding this new forum tedious. I cannot imagine why it has been made so much more difficult than the old forum, and there is now far too much "clicking and finding" and "checking preferences" for us to do. It used to be so straightforward. Now, for me, anyway, it seems to be designed as a big put-off and a lot of the enjoyment of using it has disappeared. In this instance, it would be so much easier if the Webmaster would just put the date - and forget about "yesterday" or "2m" etc. (which mean absolutely nothing). Anyway, thank you all so much - I really appreciate all of your kind help.

I think the format of the new forums is to give people more formatting choices. For those on PCs or Macs (still not iPads - waah!), many things about the forums appearance can be tailored to individual preference.

This ability to tailor to preferences is the way most forums are, it's only that QVC was late to the party with it. It's not something odd that only QVC has chosen to do.

I understand that some posters would rather not have any choices and would rather that QVC arbitrarily assigned a single setting for everyone for every function, but that's moving backwards and there's no reason for QVC to do that.
