would you shoot down a drone hovering over your property?

WE don't own guns, but it seems to me this is a privacy invasion issue. I think if I did own a gun, I would be tempted

I would call the non-emergency # at the Police Dept and ask them if it were legal. If illegal and it was flying low, I would swat it down with a broom.

I don't mean an armed drone, of course--just one of those snoopy ones.

I would call the police.

It's illegal to discharge a firearm like that - the bullet could land somewhere and hurt someone.

With what? We aren't gun owners, we would never be gun owners. However, in theory if a drone encroached upon me or my property and I had the means to do so, I'd shoot it out of the sky and grab an ax and chop up the pieces. We need some privacy laws sooner rather than later. I can't climb up on my neighbor's balcony and peek into her window and film she's doing.....but......I can fly a tiny plane onto her balcony and film to heart's content???? Does that even make any sense?

I own a gun and I have a new drone coming via UPS tomorrow. Would I shoot one down? Absolutely not, unless of course it was shooting at me.

I realize they have a camera on them, as does my new drone. Have no plans on using the camera unless to chase our furry ones around the house.

Most people that buy drones ain't about to let them out of their site and I don't have a problem with any of my neighbors checking out our property. The drone will have to fly very high to miss all of our trees, and if it gets too low? The trees will "eat it up".

No. If I miss, that bullet is going to land somewhere and I don't want to injure anyone because I wasn't thinking. Honestly, I'm so sick of frightened people shooting without thinking. There are ways to deal with annoyances or problems without shooting.

Hi Cherry, we'd have nothing to shoot it down with. If it had been hovering for a substantial amount of time, I'd call the police and ask for advice.

My first instinct would be to moon it. Second would be to look around and see which crazy/fun neighbor had a new toy. If it kept coming around then I might shoot it.

I just saw one for the first time this weekend in our realtor's office (new in the box).

He had taken pictures of the beach and dunes and got a little too close to one of the properties on the ocean. The east facing walls are floor to ceiling windows.

They saw it on his FB and told him that only their professional photographer had permission to take pictures of their home and to please take it down.

He did. But I don't know if that's the law, that he would have to oblige.

Our back yard at our place is completely private. (And no fences!) I really wouldn't want a drone coming in and taking pictures.

Where are all these people that you are speaking of that are "shooting without thinking". I've been around many gun owners and I know only 1 that shot his gun. Someone had broken into his business and had a knife in his hand. Knife versus gun? The gun owner shot his gun to show the thief it had real bullets in it, and then called 911, held the guy till the police arrived and arrested him.

The gun owner had it registered and also had a legal Conceal Carry Permit. Just curious where all these people you mention "shooting without thinking" reside.

You beat me to it Preds....I'd moon it and whoever was watching would most surely go blind!

I have a nasty nosy neighbor behind me who climbs up on his roof frequently to "clean his roof", especially when there's lots of laughing and splashing going on in my backyard. We had great warm weather over Mother's day weekend and everyone was over for a cook out and swimming. Neighbor was up on his roof three times. The third time, my son-in-law mooned him and we didn't see him again. bwahahahaha.

ETA - I have a 6' privacy fence, so he can only spy from his roof, or get a drone!

Absolutely yes----a drone that would hang around out here in the boonies where I am, is purposely being nosey and intrusive. I would hope it would happen when my entire family is here, and we could all take up our weapon of choice and see who hits it first!
