I'm having flashbacks to dodgeball in P.E. ....

When someone on your team catches a ball thrown at them, the team member who WERE out are now allowed back in the game. It was always a mad dash to get back in.

It's not pc now, but we used to call it War Ball. And it was every man for himself, so to speak.

Where I'm from, Dodgeball and War Ball had different rules. Dodgeball was played in a circle with a group inside a circle and another group in a ring around them. Only one ball was in play at a time.

War Ball was the game most people call Dodgeball today, with teams facing each other on a rectangular court and multiple balls in play.

That's interesting. I've only played the one with the circle, kids on the circle and kids inside running around.

I remember Dodgeball from our school also. The PE teacher was the roughest one, she threw the ball to hurt. I remember she pushed me against the bleacher wall during a "game" and caused me to have a minor concussion. If that was today, she would have been fired.

Dodgeball was outlawed in the public school system I started in years back, but I must say it was played rather gently there. We played it at home (I had a large family, large enough for dodgeball) and it was more or less gentle as well. Some of the neighbors were a bit Type A.

Obviously, since I played dodgeball all through junior high and high school as well and that was the 90s.
