If you choose one from your personal picture file is it possible for other posters to trace it back to the owner of the picture?

I just checked and the one I looked at allowed me to see the image info, so it appears to me we need to be as careful with the profile pix as we do with all pix.

okay, I'm going to try this. I don't understand how anyone can trace your avatar back to your computer. I'll post it and see if I can.

That depends on the picture and where it came from. If it came from your digital camera and you did not turn off the geotagging, then maybe so. If you use the same image in other places and they are linked to you (a blog with your real name, for example), they may be able to use Google image search and link it back to you.

I have been asking about you, dooB all afternoon.

You are my 3rd post. I ventured out to other forums but hurridly came back to SHOWME'S and found our sweet friend and PREDDY which is Preds again. ChickB. I saw one time and said something about her post were reduced. Mine were 2,500. Now 595something! Thank you for all of your suggestions yesterday. I really needed them. I am not posting a picture. (Also, there is no time slot when you posted I posted last).

All of this is taking more time than I expected. I believe tracking down where you left off is the most difficult thing for me. I have not resorted to tags as a click on to, no message board fill ins...just the back 'n forth letting a few friends know I am here+new abbrev, for _Not an easy sale/ NAES

I'm not sure what some are seeing, but I looked at my Avatar and, since they load your pics to this board now, the only html on it was for this website. I don't see how pics that you load here can get others on your computer or any of your personal information. If I'm confused, please enlighten me because I'd like to know.

If you right click on the avatar and select "inspect Element" a lot of information comes up on the right side of the screen.....

I don't think they can get any personal information from your Avatar. I'd be interested in proof that you can. I've been thinking about using my dog's picture as my Avatar.

Look how cute you are! I'm sure you can change it any time you want. I probably will change mine around a bit. The secret is finding a pic that takes up enough area to be viewable in such a tiny space. That's why I picked just the face shot of my little (big) Ru Bear. It was his first baby pic that I got and I just love it. But this site DID crop it off a little bit.

Yeah, I've continued to think about this (I know, I think too much) and cannot think of a way that using pics from your computer can allow other posters to see your computer. They basically upload it to their site, just like when you use Flickr or Photobucket, etc, so the URL is from here.

The pic I selected is my little puppy boy - his first baby pic - and it works because it's just a head shot. The avatar space is so small that a whole body shot probably wouldn't show up very well.

They aren't. But the pic in the tool bar that looks like an emoticon is actually the spoiler tag. The emoticons are in the one two over to the right from that one - just looks like a smilie pic w/o color.

Is that your dog chickenbutt? Very cute puppy!! Lol...No that is not me! I thought is was was funny. I googled avatar pics and picked one out from a different website. I added to my photo file.

I just cannot find where I have made my new posts.This set up is very confusing.

OK mine doesn't have that "phrase"..just things like "Save Image" "download imaage", "copy image" and that type of thing..

So, should I ditch mine or not? The only options are to download from My Computer, My Albums, or The Community.

You can't just copy one from Google images, you have to download it.
