Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Greetings to you all! Peace of the Lord to you! Hope you all are having a very blessed and positive day today. I was blessed this morning by seeing a Mallard Drake and his wife walk across our front lawn. It was so beautiful! Being I painted Mallard Drakes for 10 years, it’s such a pleasure to see them. And I saw not one but two robins today! Blessings when you look out the window! Did something different this morning, instead of making apple pancakes, I used ripe bananas instead and it was wonderful! Good way to use them up. Last evening at Adoration, all of you were offered up in prayer for all your intentions. Thanks for praying for us.

There is never a wrong time to do something good. Lord, I will show my

gratitude for my many blessings by using them to bring joy to others.

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

Not what we do so much as what we are, that is the miracle-working power.
We can be a force for good, with God's help. God is here to help us and to
bless us, here to be with us. We can be workers with God. Changed by God's
grace, we can shed one garment of the spirit for a better one. In time, we
can throw that one aside for yet a finer one. And so from character to
character, we can be gradually transformed.

I pray that I may accept every challenge. I pray that each acceptance of a
challenge may make me grow into a better person.

How True!

A funny story tells about a old lady who was living in the village. She
had never owned nor even been in a car before. One day, she was
returning home from the market carrying a big heavy basket on her head,
when a rich man riding his car passed by. Kindly,he offered to drive the
lady to her home. She thanked him and got into the car with her basket.

On the way, the man glanced at the lady in the mirror, still holding her
basket over her head. Astonished, he asked her to lay the basket down in the car and rest. The old lady naively replied,"Oh my son, your car is carrying me; this is enough, I should not burden it carrying my basket too!"

What an innocently funny response!

We sometimes do the same with God. Everyday, God carries us during the
day. Still, we insist on carrying our heavy baskets of worries and fear
of the future, for family, kids, spouse, money, job, etc...

We are carried by Almighty Hands, watched over by Sleepless Eyes and
God plans our future. Let us then relax and lay down everything in God's
Hands. The old lady, if she agreed to lay down the basket, would have
to carry it again when back home. But the beautiful thing about God is
that once we cast our heavy basket in His Hands, we do not need to think
about it anymore.

"Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of
your heart."(Psalm 37:4) Have a wonderful blessed week - free of "baskets."

“Self Worth”

Julie, I painted Canadian Geese too, but these all were on molds, not a painting. I painted lots of ducks, black ducks, red ducks, all kinds of ducks, mostly mallard drakes, all sizes. Have some life sized ones here in my livingroom I painted. I loved doing this in our basement of our other house. The ducks and geese I painted were sold in stores throughout the nation. I was surprised when I friend of mine saw one of my ducks in Florida. I had my name signed on the bottom.

I have a friend who got into bird and small animal carving many years ago. He is now gone but his carvings remain in many homes, including mine. I purchased a number of carvings as gifts for my DH and cherish each one. He also carved a carousel horse for a famous park in PA. Now, that was a feat!

Good Morning Friends! I was out of town yesterday for a good part of the day, and had lots of trouble with the computer when I got home. I downloaded another browser, and I hope it will be the resolution I need.

Gloria, I never realized you did such inspiring painting like that. You have talent, just like Harlene. I received the "bouquets", but I don't send emails to others, unless I'm writing to them. Very good thread today. Especially inspiring...

Anika, My heart stopped for a moment when I read about the carvings a friend of yours did. You're in Pa, any chance the carvers first name was Al, last name started with an H? Sullivan County? I have three of the birds he made, and the last was supposed to be a bluebird, but he passed away before it was able to be completed. DH bought them for me as gifts. He told me about a carousel horse (?) Al had made, and how incredible it was. If you don't want to post this here, please get my email from Gloria, and write privately if you would prefer. I will be on pins and needles waiting to find this out!!! pinky

Actually, my friend's name was Michael Z. who lived in Union County, PA. He got his bird and animal carving education from a man named Harold E. who was a master carver. Mike carved a carousel horse for Knoebel's Grove, a famous PA amusement park near Elysburg. Sullivan County is northeast of us.

I wouldn't be surprised that your Al knew Mike because I'm sure they had a network of carvers around the state and beyond. Small world isn't it?

Hi all! So nice Pinky and Anika could talk about that painter. I enjoyed painting the ducks and geese those ten years especially since I could do it at home.
