Today's readings 4/8/15
Acts 3:1-10; Ps.105:1-4, 6-9; Lk.24:13-35

I think most of us can probably relate to Cleopas and his companion on the Emmaus road and their encounter with the Risen Lord because we can all be a little "slow of heart" sometimes. That's because Jesus tends to reveal Himself to us in mysterious ways that we don't recognize right away, not just in the people we meet but much more personal ways like the one we hear about in our first reading. What we see in these two apostles as they enter the Temple to pray is Jesus actually manifesting Himself through them in the act of sharing "what I do have" much like He does in today's Gospel "in the breaking of the bread", and in light of all that I believe the lesson we're being presented with here is fairly obvious. I truly believe that the best way to know and recognize the Risen Lord is in the Eucharist simply because it is Jesus sharing Himself with us so we can share "what I do have" with others. There is no greater Gift we can give anyone than Jesus, and when we share Him with someone who embraces Him wholeheartedly we can't help but sing and rejoice with them like our psalmist encourages us to do today. And so let us pray that our Easter Joy embraces us wholeheartedly and awakens our "slow hearts" so we can share what, or more importantly Who we have within us and heal this "crippled" world.

God bless you,

In Jesus - Pat

Thought I'd share Pat's Scripture Reflection here.

Harlene - It sure was good that bad weather missed us! Still cold yet, but next week should be better. How's your back?

Hello my friends! Peace of the Risen Lord to you! We’re leaving shortly for Adoration and wanted to get this thread out to you first. Blessings today first are that the bad weather predicted, snow and sleet, didn’t come! Praise the Lord! I’m glad the forecasters aren’t always right. Our wine started bubbling today – another blessing, that means it’s working! It’s the triple berry one, organic berries that were frozen. And I forgot something how to make a taco salad, so texted Lori, and right away got my answer – another blessing! That’s only 3 but there are many blessings throughout the day if I just look for them and count them. That we all can do! Thanks for praying for Bernice and Ann. I wonder if we’ll get that last card game in yet before the play-off’s the first Monday of May. Depends on Ann’s health.

If you look for the light side in all things, you will keep yourself alive

and healthy. Lord, may I be able to see the good in my experiences,

even in my most challenging moments.

Scripture for the day:

"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were

harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." ~Matthew 9:36

Meditation for the day:

Having compassion for all who are in temptation, a condition which we

are sometimes in, we have a responsibility toward them. Compassion

always includes responsibility. Pity is useless because it does not

have a remedy for the need. But wherever our compassion goes, our

responsibility goes too. When we are moved with compassion, we can go

to the one in need and bind up their wounds as best we can.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may have compassion for those in temptations. I pray

that I may have compassion for the trials of others.

Alleluia, Alleluia!

O sons and daughters, let us sing!

The King of heaven, the glorious King,

O'er death today rose triumphing.

That Easter morn, at break of day,

The faithful women went their way,

To seek the tomb where Jesus lay.

An angel clad in white they see,

Who sat, and spoke unto the three,

"Your Lord has gone to Galilee."

That night the apostles met in fear;

Amidst them came their Lord most dear,

And said, "My peace be on all here."

When Thomas, first the tidings heard,

How they had seen the risen Lord,

He doubted the disciples' word.

"My wounded side, O Thomas, see;

Behold my hands, my feet," said he,

"Not faithless, but believing be."

No longer Thomas then denied,

He saw the feet, the hands, the side;

"You are my Lord and God," he cried.

How blessed are they who have not seen,

And yet whose faith has constant been,

For they eternal life shall win.

On this most holy day of days,

To God your hearts and voices raise,

In laud, and jubilee and praise.

Alleluia!

(Jean Tisserand)

- - -

John 20:29 - (Jesus said to Thomas) "Do you believe because you see me? How happy are those who believe without seeing me!"

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." -Hebrews 13:8

Jesus said:

"I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." -John 10:11

"I am the door. If anyone enters in by Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find green pastures." -John 10:9

"I am the Bread of Life. No one coming to me will ever be hungry again. Those believing in Me will never thirst." -John 6:35

"I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in me and I in him shall produce a large crop of fruit." -John 15:5

"I am the resurrection and life. Anyone who believes in me, even though he dies like anyone else, shall live again." -John 11:25

"I have come as a Light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness." -John 12:46

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

Thank you, Jesus, for revealing Yourself in a way we all understand.

First take the time to spend with Him.

<SPAN style="font-size: medium;
I am the Potter; you are My clay. I designed you before the foundation of the world. I arrange the events of each day to form you into this preconceived pattern. My everlasting Love is at work in every event of your life. On some days your will and Mine flow smoothly together. You tend to feel in control of your life when our wills are in harmony. On other days you feel as if you are swimming upstream, against the current of My purposes. When that happens, stop and seek My Face. The opposition you feel may be from Me, or it may be from the evil one.

Talk with Me about what you are experiencing. Let My Spirit guide you through treacherous waters. As you move through the turbulent stream with Me, let circumstances mold you into the one I desire you to be. Say yes to your Potter as you go through this day.

Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.
—Isaiah 64:8

My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.
—Psalm 27:8 – From Jesus Calling

 Jelly Bean Rainbow

Your post reminded me of something that happened a few years ago. As we were traveling to my brother's birthday party we witnessed a double rainbow (a rare occasion in PA) and it was so bright and beautiful that we actually pulled over to watch and enjoy it.

Still having rainy weather in PA. I hope flooding is not in our immediate future although the river east of us is already over its banks so I know the small streams are flooding.

Blessings to all who post here.
