I was watching the earlier presentation of the TSV and didn't understand the vendor and host's explanation of GIA's involvement with the Affinity line. A diamond grading isn't stated for diamonds in the ring. What does the Q mean when they say they have "partnered" with the GIA? TIA.

The question is why haven't they been graded? Are they single cut diamonds or fully faceted? Are they I1 or SI graded? An eye clean diamond could me I1 which is flawed not always necessarily visible to the naked eye. If they are grading the tennis bracelet as VS H color than why the secrecy on the TSV?

Graduate gemologists GIA trained can loupe a diamond ring and determine the clarity, color and cut. Of course the setting can reflect color into the diamonds such as 14k yellow gold, so accuracy is off sometimes. I suspect QVC's TSV are I1 and the color is I or J , otherwise they would have said SI1 or SI2, G or H color.

Out of curiosity, I called customer service regarding the TSV. The rep told me there is no information on the GIA grading of this ring. Nothing on whether the diamonds are SI or I1 and in addition no color grade. That tells me all I needed to know. if they were SI, I am sure they would have shared it.

Now they are showing the Affinity Canary Yellow Diamond Ring and again the host and vendor mentioned the Q partnering with the GIA. I'm looking at the GIA color diamond grading scale and I seen nothing that says "Canary". I see "fancy vivid", "fancy light", etc. But not "Canary". And according to the GIA.edu website

Yellow is diamond’s second most common fancy color. Yellow diamonds are sometimes marketed as “canary.” While this isn’t a proper grading term, it’s commonly used in the trade to describe fancy yellow diamonds.

If the GIA says it's not a proper grading term why is it being used? They should use the GIA's proper grading terms if they're going to mention the GIA.
