Easter Baskets

How many of you make Easter baskets? We have 6 grandchildren and they each get there own basket. And before that each of my 4 children got baskets. So the night before Easter we line them up on the dinning room table and away we go. Each basket is the same. But they look forward each year to getting one.

I have three grandchildren....and I use to make up baskets for each of them....their parents always made up a big basket for them, too....

I stopped doing that because they are limited to how much candy they can have...add the Easter candy to the Halloween candy....their collection of candy was ridiculous...

I now send them a card with money in it.....

I bought hand-painted baskets that we use every year. I fill them with gift cards and stocking-stuffer type gifts, more so than candy.

When the grandkids were small we put change in those plastic eggs and scattered them around the back yard. As the older ones got better at finding them, it wasn't fair to the little ones, so we filled the eggs with change and then filled baskets and hid the baskets outside (inside, if it was raining/snowing). Now they are all teenagers, but they still want to come over for their basket This year we are putting a chocolate cross, a few jelly beans, and a $5 bill in an egg in each basket.

I think the Easter Bunny still comes to their house, too lol!!!

DH, our daughter and I do baskets for each other. A See's candy egg and small gifts. DD bought a single serving French press for her dad, I got him several new books and I can't remember what else (on pain killers and sleepy), our girl is easy to buy for: earrings, fancy eye shadow, a VBradley bag and other things. Love doing baskets

No worries Ladybug....I was speaking strictly about baskets at my house (I'm the grandma!). The Bunny delivers the official baskets at their home!

DD and DS are in their 30's, but I still make an Easter basket for each of them. I put 2 boxes of their favorite Girl Scout cookies in them along with gum, various snack crackers and of course Reese's peanut butter eggs, Cadbury eggs and other traditional Easter treats. No grandkids to spoil yet! LOL

I do Easter gift bags for my son and his Dad. I buy colorful bags, this year I got bright yellow, added lime green Easter grass on the bottom and added lots of candy plus one chocolate bunny and they each get a $25 gift card to their favorite food place plus and Easter Card.

I just have one grandchild, Gwen but she is 7 months old so the basket I made is a "family basket" next year she can have the candy for herself instead of my son and daughter-in-law getting it all. Of course the gifts I put in the basket will go straight into her mouth anyway. I bought her a my first cell phone with bells, whistles, and singing/talking, she will love it.

Happy Easter to all our Grandkids, I so love being a Grandmother!!

Oh heck - I still make baskets for DS and DDIL.

The grandchildren will get baskets from us but I agree - the Easter Bunny brings the home baskets. LOL

And the plastic eggs - we used to put hints in them, like a treasure hunt, and little prizes leading up to the final egg which would hint where the baskets were hidden.

What fun!

I do not do Easter baskets for our grandchildren as the Easter bunny brings their basket to their homes.

We buy their Easter outfits for them.

My mom used to buy my sister and me these big white sugar eggs that were beautifully decorated and had a hole in one end. When you looked inside there was a springtime scene. I've never seen these in a store or heard anyone mention them. I don't know where she got them but they were beautiful.

I so love Easter baskets. Great memories from my own childhood, my children's and now grandsons. Grandsons always get a basket. I'm including fewer candy goodies and more books and fun things like Kites, baseballs, and Silly Putty. Before my grown children had partners, I'd put together Easter baskets with certs and stuff they really like. But we switched things up seven years ago when partners came into the picture -- and they all love it!

The 20s/30s kids have a special Easter egg hunt with folding money and small Cadbury eggs inside plastic eggs. Grandparents and grandkids hide their eggs. It's hilarious to watch them open their eggs together and count their money. It's probably cheaper than putting baskets together for each young adult. The 20s/30s hide plastic eggs for the grandchildren.

We start our day together at church, feast, play and laugh a lot. A beautiful time.

I have 3 grandchildren (ages 17, 15, and 11). I no longer make baskets the past few years because they are getting older, and they get baskets from their parents and other relatives with some candy and little gifts inside the basket.

I gave a card, a chocolate bunny (just so no basket) and money last Saturday when my family were all here for dinner. I also gave my own kids candy they love. DH and I wont see them Easter.

But I have fond memories of dying eggs and making baskets (with my kids and grandkids) not that long ago. We always used Hinkle dye to color the eggs artistically instead of just dunking them in egg coloring, and my grandkids still use the Hinkles.

We have 6 grandchildren and the baskets are filled with spring or summer outfits. Their parents frown on to much candy and I agree. The ages are 2months up to 9 yrs. We also do an egg hunt. The eggs are filled with change and their is one large egg each filled with a dollar. They can't wait for the fun to begin.

Why not contribute a gift or special treat to the basket the parent puts together ?

In my family we only had ONE basket and that was brought by the Easter Bunny.
