Do you prefer Alton Brown (Iron Chef, Cutthroat Kitchen) or Ted Allen (Chopped)?

I like Ted Allen better and I'm glad they made him the host of the new challenge show with "everyday" home cooks.

Who do you prefer and why?

Between the two of them, I guess I'd say Ted Allen. He has always been pleasant and he does a good job.

Sometimes Alton Brown gets in my craw a little bit. But I have probably liked him more in his older projects.

Alton Brown's recipes are _amazing_ so I indulge his quirky disposition for the sake of the incredible info he has. He really knows recipes and ingredients. I disliked Cutthroat Kitchen first season (I only caught one show but hated it). But I think the episode I watched recently was more whimsical and less mean.

Ted Allen is a sweetie, have liked him since the great show "Qu**r Eye"; I think he adds a lot to an already great show, Chopped.

I will watch almost anyone cook; it is much more relaxing than real cooking. There are many more shows I will enjoy on the food networks than shows that annoy me. I don't know why (and my friends don't agree), but Giada gets on my nerves. Bobby Flay is OK but he's on too much.

There is an Australian who has cooking shows on Asian/Vietnamese themes (he is Asian by ethnic heritage), who has amazing shows. First name is Luc. His Thailand series and a spinoff (Thai food in France) are both wonderful.

Iron Chef (original Japanese version) is my fave, but it's not on anymore. Even Iron Chef America seems to be off the air, or on at some time when I don't watch TV.

Burnsite- I had forgotten about Alton Brown's recipes! (d'oh!) I use one of his original, from like 14-15 years ago, turkey recipes and make the most amazing turkey. Well, I use his recipe for the most part. Of course, me being me, I made a few little changes. But it's really great.
