I think they often have very HIGH self esteem.

They can't see their own faults...just the faults of others.

I think it's most often someone whose ego gets in the way of their ability to be self-aware.

I wonder if they're a bit broken inside and reacting to silent or invisible pain.

I've often felt that the only way some people can feel good about themselves is by putting down other people. I'm sure it's not the only reason - but can you really see somebody with high self esteem going on somebody's Facebook page to troll? Why would they bother?

Anyone who needs to act above others usually doesn't feel good about himself. And a hypocrite thinks he is ""above"" the behavior he condemns.... Yet is actually guilty of the exact same things. I remember how a radio personality used to berate drug addicts...and then it turned out HE was addicted to oxycontin and sent his maid out to score for him.

He later got caught with viagra...he had it made out in his doctor's name so people wouldn't know he used it!!

That's interesting, Caitlin Bree (love your nickname). I've read that hypocrisy is part of a narcissistic personality disorder, and it seems as though they need to try and knock others down in order to feel good about themselves. Anyone secure in themselves wouldn't need to do that.
