Is there an open season on door-to-door callers?

We moved here last May, and never got anyone coming to the door selling anything (including religion). I thought it was because we were located off the beaten path, and it's not worth anyone's while to trek up here.

But then I got one yesterday, and another today. It's like the beginning of Spring brought them out from under their rocks

Buy a "No Soliciting" sign.

Mine has worked wonders, but they have to know what "soliciting" means. LOL

Yes spring and fall are the most active in my area......not too hot or too cold.......the summers here are too hot.......and with winter DST the days are dark so early. .........we never answer the door but find brochures left on the landing. ........

Ugh, don't get me started!

PS: 'No Soliciting' and 'No Trespassing' signs don't work.

RHG - Oh yeah, THAT is the problem! They will tell you they aren't soliciting, then they go right into their spiel. ARGH

Yep we have them too...every spring and we are in a gated community that has several signs...no solicitors welcome or permitted.

I can't wait for the home improvement people to start coming by and pointing out issues with my tuck pointing on the chimney. Of course, they will also criticize my gutters and offer me new windows.

I asked one guy, how would you like to me to go to your Mother's house and start telling her what she needs to get replaced?

I thought the religious solicitations may coincide with Easter and Thanksgiving holidays. Maybe they think people are in a more charitable mood.

I don't answer the door unless I'm expecting someone. I'll ask through the door "who is it" & when they tell me what they want, I tell them I'm not interested.

Sometimes I wish they couldn't see Rupert through the window. He has a seriously mean-sounding bark and growl. But then his face pops up and he's a big ol' Golden Retriever. I don't think he'd scare anybody away once they see him. But when you don't see him, you'd be scared to hear him going on!

I have a serious weakness for the sweet countenance of Goldens, but when they show their teeth they can look menacing.

I live far from family, so don't have to worry about them popping in. If I am not expecting anyone, I usually don't answer the door.

If they come, our visits are very short. Once they see what I have in my waistband and hear me say "I ain't interested", they hasten away.

I have a "no soliciting" sign, and if anyone rings my doorbell, they better not be selling anything, including religion. I give kids a pass but I'm not kind to others.
