Anyone know how to stop AARP from sending so much junk mail, & email?

I've been a member off & on every since I was eligible to join, only because I wanted to take advantage of some of their discount offers. I've allowed the membership to lapse several times because they just bombard me with mail & email. I eventually relent & re-join, as previous mentioned because I wanted discounts. I'd like to tell them, "Don't call me; I'll call you" because I know how to find what I want on their website.

Sheesh! Anybody know how to stop the madness?

Have you tried to ""opt out"" on their website? Most sites have that option available.

Yes, I can do that, but I still get regular mail via USPS.

I don't know how you can stop receiving certain pieces of mail.

You can either opt out of their emails or put a filter on to snag them from reaching your inbox.

DH and I both have AARP a supplemental'edicare health insurance and yet we are bombarded with weekly,solicitations to,get information about their insurance.

Just got in today my Sundance and King's Ranch catalogues and both (in different locations) have a Mail List Option. It tells you what to do to stop both of theirs. One magazine had it in the very back pages and the other had it with the order form. Both in very fine print. Good Luck!

Pull the mailing label off and return it to them along with a note to remove you from their mailing list.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check the paper mailings for any place where I can opt out of those. As previously mentioned, I can still "unsubscribe" to the emails.

Oh goodness. They haven't started sending to me yet, but they probably will soon. I had a similar problem with Reader's Digest. They kept sending stuff and stuff and stuff and kept trying to get me to renew all the time. They finally left me alone after I told them over the phone that "I didn't order these magazines and books. Quit sending me stuff. I had one subscription 2 years ago and didn't renew my subscription. Ya'll sent me a bill for the next year's subscription or whatever but I wasn't interested, so I didn't pay it. Then ya'll continued to send me magazines and bill me for them. What, am I supposed to keep subscribing to Reader's Digest for the rest of my life? I keep sending the bill back unpaid, marked 'cancelled' in red ink, and ya'll keep sending me more magazines and billing me! Please, quit sending me magazines and billing me. I AM TRYING TO CANCEL". That guy I talked to on the phone must have actually cancelled, because that's when stuff stopped coming to my house.

At the bottom of the email, look for "unsubscribe", click on it and follow options. That should stop the emails.

I'm an AARP member but I don't get emails from them and almost no USPS mailings, either.

I haven't had any annoying problems with them.

Go to AARP.org . At that top of the page where the AARP logo appears in red letters. There is a heading that says A-Z. Click on that heading. A whole alpha list of topics comes up. Scroll to My Account Prefernces in the M section. Click on it and it brings you to a page where you can sign up for E Mail,offers from AARP. Do not fill in anything. Just click the Register button. that brings you to,a page where they want you to fill in yourbE Mail address and your mailing address so they can send you garbage mailings. On the upper left in a Gold colored box you will see the Words. "Need Help." Click that and you will open a on line chat session. Once a rep has signed into the session type your request to have all the marketing mailings stopped and send it. They will respond and want your full name and mailing address and they will send the request in to remove you from the mailing list.

If mail comes to your home, mark Return to Sender, or take the postage paid envelope, put the mail they sent you, make a note indicating you don't want mail from them, and mail it back to them ... on their dime!

LOL! Forgot about that. I used to do that with credit card solicitations until the govt forced them to give us the opportunity to opt out of those mailings.

I've never subscribed. They are a boiler room. I will follow your suggestion though.

You could do what I do, rip it up and send it back in the prepaid envelopes......
