Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, confusing!

Was reading that Kelly Osbourne may quit Fashion Police.

I only watch a little of it here and there, so I certainly could live without her! Sometimes, the show makes me rather uncomfortable.

So, I am not sure I have gotten this correctly. Kelly is upset with Giuliana because she said someone's hair (in dreadlocks?)looked like it smelled like oil and weed? I guess that is a reference to hippies, maybe.

Giuliana has apologized to "Gendaya," whom I have never heard of, and the apology was apparently accepted.

This seems crazy to me. Isn't "Fashion Police" all about criticizing someone's hair, clothing, makeup, whatever, Kelly Osbourne?

Isn't the commentary on the "Red Carpet" all about whether one likes the hair, makeup, jewelry? So, I guess Giuliana didn't like this woman's look?

So what? I am missing something?

Some are accusing Kelly of adding to the comment.

Kelly is innocent, Rancic made a comment about Zendaya's dreadlocks that sounded racist. Especially since Zendaya is young (18, I think), Kelly feels the comment was totally innapropriate and supposedly is considering quitting the Fashion Police.

Zendaya was on DWTS about two seasons ago. She is a Disney channel star.

She didn't like the look on this young woman. Why make it out to be something it wasn't?

I didn't see it, just read about it. But, I think people make trouble just to MAKE TROUBLE.

I didn't see this, but I watched Zendaya on DWTS. How on earth is this RACIST?? I think, once again, things are being blown up. I also read that Giuliana was trying to be Joan Rivers, and no one can do that. I agree. There was only one Joan Rivers. Giuliana should stick to her own style and not try to imitate her and be snarky or funny!

Zendaya's father is AfroAmerican. Zendaya was wearing an ethnic hairstyle. Why would you say it smells like patchouli oil?

I do not not think Giuliana Rancic is a racist, rather I think she is ignorant. The posted conversation is her second apology. Her first apology only reinforced her ignorance (and arrogance)

An oil that hippies wore in the 70's associated with drug use.

eta....just found this on Urban Dictionary:

Patchouli Oil

Hippie perfume.

An oil worn as perfume by dirty hippies in lieu of showering or bathing in any way. This was part of the original response from Zendaya: There is more, it is out there everywhere. Since this statement, Guiliana has apologized and said this has been a learning process for her. Zendaya has VERY graciously accepted the apology. She is a very well spoken young woman.

idk but there is a major uproar now about FP being reaired with the "offending" segment intact.

the young woman in question has extensions - in other words these aren't her own dreads she developed over the years

ii have a small bottle of patchouli, it has never turned or went bad and i have worn over the years. it had a distinctive scent but i would never associate it with dirty hippies. it is actually the base of many perfumes

I don't think Guiliana is a racist, but it was a very ignorant comment and hurtful as a lot of the comments are on that show. I think Guiliana realized how ignorant and disrespectful she actually sounded and her 2nd apology seemed very sincere, and Zendaya(a very talented young lady) has accepted...Time to move on.......Who knows how much longer FP will actually last, but I still enjoy it, obviously not as much as when Joan was on, but it is an OK show!!!!!!
