Vacuum Lines

Do you create vacuum lines in your carpet? I love that look! Unfortunately 'life' gets in the way & the lines are gone in about 10 minutes. Whenever I have company coming, I pull out the vacuum, not for cleaning but for vacuum lines! #QVCForumConfession

I have a sister in law that lives for stuff like this. She had a room in her previous house with white furniture that no one could sit on and carpet with vacuum lines. She's ocd in many ways I think. I have my own issues and have some ocd leanings but not this type. I'm more of a hand washer, door and drawer closer and anxious variety.

I think that I am obsessed with finding the perfect vacuum -- for me. Not obsessed with keeping the floor perfect but just decent. I cannot use a heavy one anymore because of orthritus and old age. I have three different Sharks -- two battery operated and the new Shark Rocket that is very light weight and has several ways of using it. None of these would suit the ""line makers"" but they serve purpose very well.

I would hate to tell how many I have tried -- trying to find one that I can reasonably use.

My mother loved vacuum lines. LOL

I have sculpted carpet in the bedrooms, and I can't make lines on it. If I could, I would though.

Wow, I think that looks really artificial and almost clinical.. what is the appeal? is it something only Virgo's can relate to?

I bet there is a video on youtube or something if you want instruction, though! after all, everyone has their own taste and sensibility...

I live in an apt, so I don't have the sq footage to create the lines above, but I can still make them!

Fancy hotels do this. I worked w/ a lady decades ago who did maid work on the weekend...and she mentioned doing this. Showed me how....cool.

It kinda/sorta reminds me of a baseball field...maybe that's why I love it!!

My floors are mostly hardwood and ceramic tile. I do try to sweep the dirt into evenly-spaced lines though.

I can't really explain the appeal for me, I kind of think it has something to do with making the nap look fluffy maybe ?

My mom is a nut for this. Where I have the type of carpet that shows the lines, I notice when they get 'messed up' and it makes the room look sloppy to me, when the lines are there, and even when they are gone. So I have tended to switch to wood floors and Berber carpet. With the berber, you don't see the footprints, the sweeper lines, or the matting of carpet over time. I think it gives a cleaner look.
